    Hey folks, very odd occurrence:

I have a number of shots that come up black in the color/conform page, but what’s weird is that the clips start out fine at the beginning of the shot, then cut black later in the shot. Sometimes they flicker black, too. If I look at the shots in Redcine X, they play back fine.

    Anybody have thoughts about that?

I have been having this issue on rare occasions with Red One footage… it seems to cut out at the breaks where the Red footage splits into different files to accommodate file size limits…

The old solution was to add “DPDecoder.Count=0” into the debug line of the peferences, but this also cripples your Red decoding speed. Definitely send your capture logs to davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com to see if they have a new solution. I’m told it is solved in 8.1.

    Reinstalled the software. Issue vanishes.
    Thanks!

Problem came back in other reels. 🙁

it appeared to fix itself in some areas. but remain a problem in others. The debug fix didn’t work for me.

    Hi,
Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I’m having a similar problem with Epic 5K footage transcoded to prores. Any ideas? I’m on resolve 8.2

See he numerous threads about gpu ram. Basically, you need a gpu with more than 2gb of ram.

Hmm. it seems strange that I’m able to color 4K footage from a red one no problem but 5K poses an issues. Would transcoding the footage to 4K prores solve the issue?

What I did try to make it work correctly (but not a perfect workflow), I unplugged the Quadra 4000 card, and the clips in Resolve came up fine.
Obviously that doesn’t make for fun and fast correction, but I was able to grade the clips, and render out the sequence.

BTW: another 5k Red show came in, and didn’t have those particular problems.
