If your set on an iMac I’d look at the 24″ 3.06 ghz with the GForce GT130 Video card. To address the drive connection there is only 1 firewire 800 the rest are USB so the firewire would be best there you might look at the G-Raid3 series.

just an FYI as AJA has stated LHE goes in Slot 2 and turn off the sleep function. and that is counting Video as #1
Had similar issues early on and got that word directly from the source at AJA

According to AJA tech support put it inthe 2nd slot just as the precious versoin Mac Pro and according to AJA no worries

couple of things you want to consider when you are thinking of your MacBook Pro. you say edit on the road, well if we are talking editing while flying, the 17″ is out unless you sit in business or first class, the machine is bigger than your fold down tray. Also look at what will you be editing?
Now I edit on the road alot and I have the previous gen 15″ 2.6 ghz with a sata card for external drives and an IoHD. it works great for me. I have dealt wit an east coast company in the past and they have set me up right, might want to drop them a line at http://www.mbsdirect.com

If you are price concious the MXO is a good choice. however ther earer other players in the game that can help you here. You might also look at AJA and Black Magic.

if your wanting to view to a ntsc monitor, depending on your budget there are several options. AJA, Black Magic, Matrox they all make solutions for what you are looking to do.
