they are in your documents and settings folder but you have to turn on hidden files and folders in order to find them. I sure hope that Adobe changes this in future releases so we can share these settings easily. Like give us an option as to where to save these when you save them.

September 15, 2005 at 1:21 am in reply to: Matrox Axio demos

    Hi Larry,
This is off topic but I can’t find your email address and I need some help with my Axio system.
I have been trying for weeks to get a piece of 1080i or 1080p video in the HD Off-line codec and in on-line quality from my dealer or from Matrox with no luck. We will be on-lining an HD feature in a couple of months and we want to try the off-line codec in Combustion/Max where we will be creating the CGI for this feature.
I understand that the dealers and demo guys have some on the demo systems, so do you have a 1 sec or greater clip in off-line and on-line you could ftp to me. This shouldn’t be too big to ftp.
I will send you my ftp address privately.
    Thanks

Any drive, no matter what the brand, can die without warning. The only way to protect your content is to use a Raid5 external drive system.

Neither one will work very well because of the 512 memory. You need minimum 1gig or go to 2gb. Of the two the HP is the best because it is a true P4 and not an “M”
The speed of the drives is not a factor because you shouldn’t be capturing, storing or playing back from the system drive at all.
I just bought an HP NX9600 with 100gb drive, 17″ monitor, 2gb memory and a 3.6 P4 processor. It has no problems with anything including 3DS Max, Combustion and Premiere.

i guess I’ll have to wait for Adobe to add this function in Ver2
I have tried DVdate and AE and neither do what is needed. DVdate does show the timeline timecode but only of the clip that it is applied to. AE does not show the timecode of the timeline at all.

so if i select this option and enter 9:59:00:00 that this will display throughout the timeline and not just on the selected clip?

Unless I am doing something terribly wrong DV Date does not do what is needed! Yes, it will give me the TC of the clip it is applied to or the timeline TC of the clip. But it does not give me the TC of the complete timeline from beginning to end. The TC of the clip is of no use as we already know this from the original footage log. In order to work with the producer or client we need to send a copy of the show with the timeline TC so they can comment on the show. There is no way that applying this plugin to every clip on the timeline will work when you could be working with 300 to 500 clips in a documentary or feature film.
I’m still looking for a solution and hoping that Adobe fixes this important problem in Ver2.

Premiere will not do this. Also, there are no plugins that i have found that work easily. Hopefully this will be included in Ver.2 like in FCP
The two ways that I do it are as follows.
1-I print the show to betacam with the TC display turned on the beta machine while recording the output to a vhs tape at the same time.
2-I captured a 60 minute clip from betacam with the TC display turned on. Then I place this on the time line and crop the picture so that only the TC shows up over my show. Then playback the show to VHS. I keep this 60min TC clip on my harddrive for future use..
    Hope this helps.
