Right-click / control-click on the graphic frame…select Display Options and choose High
or.. whatever the words are.. it’s just the display preferences to help in faster screen draws.

I don’t want to start a war, but this really just encourages the use of Publisher in a realm, the professional, where it shouldn’t even encroach!
When I was in publishing, the only thing we despised worse then receiving an ad from Publisher was one from Word Perfect!
However, I suppose so many diy’ers are doing more themselves these days that they’re bound to cross paths with higher-end output and thus the need may be there…..

is your RAM installed in pairs? Weird but we’ve seen a similar with Unsharp Mask and other math intensive filters in Photoshop and older versions of Illustrator.
Good clean RAM in pairs solved it for us but it may just been a coincidence.

Well, in Illustrator you could just use the 3d extrusion with some perspective. Just start out with some other color than black so you’ll see the extrusion easier than having to jack with lighting.
Then, just trace the extrusion or modify by using stroke only.
The glow can be accomplished several ways… gradient strokes from say .5 point white on top of and to a 2 point gold…paste two lines on top of each other, zoom way in and offset the top just enough to use the blend tool.. and/or using layer modes.
I would probably create it at size and take it into photoshop for the glow as it would be faster.

We have the same set-up but it seems to work. Are you sure under the Setup options within InDesign’s print and then page positions in the bottom under Options has been set to centered?
If that isn’t working you might have to rotate the page.
Since you can only print a width of 36″ (and it’s more safe to go 35″) you might need to make the document bigger and then float the artwork so that the document edges fake out the HP.
The humidity here has caused our HP to start turning the paper so we’ve dropped down to 7mil glossy paper and outdoor cling material.
I just mention that because we’ve heard once the HP starts turning the paper as it comes out, you can’t really fix that so that might happen someday.

That’s pretty neat. It just dawned on me that perhaps the three circles (the childrens and the one above and below) could have been joined and a multi-gradient applied. Then, just strokes could have been added where needed.
I tried both but this one was easier in Illustrator and then copied into InDesign.
Either way, I’m glad you got it solved!

Hmm… in InDesign, InDesign CS… I don’t think so. Auto page numbering is based on new pages so there’s no way to use that functionality to fake inDesign…. in CS3, I’m not sure but I would guess not unless there is an external script that alter content within a file.Usually, scripts within InDesign are akin to Actions in Photoshop or Illustrator; they remember what to do and do it much faster that a normal human but they do things that are in the menus.
However, it’s always surprising to find out what’s available via a 3rd party or even the OS so maybe someone else knows.
