Retro style 3D text
Hello folks. I’m looking for a way to create retro style 3D text. To see what I’m talking about, you could go here and look for a piece called “CMYK Lovers” about half way down the page.

BTW, I’m referring to the “CMYK LOVERS” gold text with the vanishing point.

Well, in Illustrator you could just use the 3d extrusion with some perspective. Just start out with some other color than black so you’ll see the extrusion easier than having to jack with lighting.
Then, just trace the extrusion or modify by using stroke only.
The glow can be accomplished several ways… gradient strokes from say .5 point white on top of and to a 2 point gold…paste two lines on top of each other, zoom way in and offset the top just enough to use the blend tool.. and/or using layer modes.
I would probably create it at size and take it into photoshop for the glow as it would be faster.
