Have you tried uploading the nice video file to YouTube?

Cool idea. But the decklink card would be unable to do this if being used by resolve. He could have a device down the line add that. The original videohub was able to do this as well.

The Logitech comes with software to create keyboard short macros. Other people have used third party software to create ui functionality using iPad apps. But you can’t natively use just any control panel in resolve. Only ones supported as BMD has written drivers for those into the app.

In Resolve for Mac at least, I am not aware of anyway to do this. There is a safe area option… Which is customizable to some degree, but I’m not aware of a method for overlaying a graticule still onto the format viewer. You could make a dpx, bring it in and grab a still. Then toogle that still as a way to check. Assuming that you aren’t able to get the safe area settings to suit you.

EDIT: I just checked in the file system (within the app and in Applicatin support, couldn’t find any references to graticule or markers, safe area, etc) seems the safe area markers are generated within app, so you couldn’t even reverse engineer into it by replacing the source images.

    Sorry.

If your controller supports raid5 or has a built in raid 0 controller, you are far better off using a dedicated hardware controller than using the CPU to manage your raid.

To Resolve, it’s not just a matter of the codec, the wrapper is just as important. Resolve does not support mxf wrapped prores. Just mov wrapped prores. The problem you have is that you’re working in SD and DNxHD is not available to you. The only work around i can think of is the get your avid edit into automatic duck to export DV wrapped movs and an XML, then grade those.

Otherwise, you could switch to an HD project and transcode to DNxHD, which would be visible to Resolve.

Here is a full list of supported codecs. Please note the wrappers.

Have you tried breaking it up into smaller segments? That doesn’t sound like a lot of events, but I’ve seen resolve take its time connecting to large media clips.

Thanks to support for third party cards for a few hundred bucks you can have a nice clean analog capture solution. No need to fuzz around with dual boot or a spare station.

There is also the spew scopebox 3.0 which can use any old BlackMagic card. Of course you’d have to run that on a seperate machine, just like you would for the ultrascope.
