Hey, just getting started with Resolve and coloring in general. I’m a student and still new to the game, and therefor am rocking a pretty poor-man’s coloring system, Resolve Lite on a 27″ iMac, for now at least!

I’m wondering, can you use any sort of control device to manipulate some of the controls in Resolve? Obviously any device that is laid out without coloring in mind (especially one lacking track balls) will not be ideal at all.. but it may help a bit?

For example, I have this midi device: https://lividinstruments.com/hardware_ohm64.php
Like I said, maybe it’s useless, but if I could custom map some commonly used controls and have it off to the side while coloring, could be nice to have tactile knobs and sliders. Is it possible to program it for use with Resolve?

My personal favorite, especially nice to use in the dark:

    Agreed
We use the Logitech too , and it’s great for macros.

When we preconform, all clips import with a default node , but in the absence of any clip markers or timeline markers in resolve (a serious shortfall) we remove all blank nodes , so it is clear which clips have effects …. But with several hundred clips , it takes a while.
The logitek let’s us create a macro to remove effects , replacing thousand of keystrokes with just a dozen or two.

But how can you map devices such as the one I linked to, to work in Resolve? In the preferences it seems to only be able to work with the Resolve Control panel or a few other predetermined controllers.

The Logitech comes with software to create keyboard short macros. Other people have used third party software to create ui functionality using iPad apps. But you can’t natively use just any control panel in resolve. Only ones supported as BMD has written drivers for those into the app.

Try the Artist Color panel. That works well with Resolve.
