Hi Sascha,
I’ve definately been able to capture BD output through analog component in the past. The tricky part is making sure your setting are correct. Some players will send a 30hz signal instead of 29.97hz or 23.98hz… Try a couple of settings to see if one clicks.
A better tip I have for you is to use AnyDVD to rip the discs, copy the m2ts file and then bring that into premiere natively. Make your selects and export a QT of your choosing. Works really well.

That seems a really reasonable point. But I think it could be taken a step broader. What the cow could really benefit from is a Color Correction Workflow and Techniques forum that could encompass all grading systems, not just resolve. As many of the techniques and workflows we use could just as easily be applied to other systems.

Joe, 220x or 175x is a perfectly adequate mastering format for broadcast work. And would require several recompression cycles to show significant degradation of the image,

As Mike said it does recompress. And I find when rendering out a color grade it does pay to export into a 10bit codec. Even of your source is 8bit. I’d recommend 220x.

You’re still running powerpc applications? Are you using os 9 too?

Every single individual computer monitor in the world looks different. Some a little some drastically. There is no predictable and standardized way of predicting the appearance of a consumer display. Video by comparison is rather standardized bt.709. Best thing is to grade Ina calibrated video monitor even if it’s for the web. Certainly don’t grade on the GUI. You can additionally calibrate your computer display using a probe and software to produce a monitor profile. You have a probe, correct?

Same thing could’ve happened with a mouse. Or rather the USB port. If you feel like it try another mouse on another port. Thats my only thought as to what could be causing this.

Just a thought. It seems like odd pointer behavior. Scrolling and moving windows. You didn’t say you had any playback or general performance issues. In the past I’ve had symptoms similar to this be due to a faulty tablet.
