Resolve 8.2 is Out. Adds F65 Raw support!
Posted by Juan Salvo on March 5, 2012 at 7:31 amThe release (i.e. non-beta) version of Resolve 8.2 is available from BMD… difference from the beta seem to be F65 support, and rendering to HDCAM-SR. Very, very cool! HDCAM-SR is a great codec.
• XML 1.1 support for DaVinci Resolve to read Final Cut Pro X color,
sizing, opacity and composite mode settings
• Canon C300 support
• Sony F65 Raw support
• Sony SStP encoding
• GoPro camera MP4 file decoding
• Support for Tangent Element panels
• General performance and stability improvementsJuan Salvo replied 14 years, 1 month ago 7 Members · 17 Replies -

March 5, 2012 at 8:47 amThanks for the heads up! I just upgraded.
Has there been any official word on the ability to encode ProRes in Windows, as we saw briefly in an earlier beta? I was really hoping it would make a comeback in 8.2, but I guess not. A bit of a bummer there. But all in all, another very impressive release from Blackmagic! Thanks guys!

Do you or anyone else know if there have been improvements on the Tangent Wave jog wheel? I received a fast response from Tangent mentioning how Blackmagic’s Resolve totally organises the relationship between the two. I was just wondering if 8.2 has made any improvements in this regard (especially with the jog wheel).

March 5, 2012 at 11:52 amWhen you try the wheel in Scratch or just the Startup mode, does it move faster ?
Mine doesn’t…I don’t think its a Resolve thing.
And by the way, the big panel also jogs very flaky 🙂A slice of color…

?????
Lets see now, I own an SRW-5500, and I didn’t know it was a “codec”.

March 5, 2012 at 4:52 pmI have 2 5500 and 3 5800. And HDCAM-SR is now a software codec in addition to a tape.
If you have the 5800/2 with the data option you can pull the file media off of the tape media. And the SR-R1 SR-MASTER recorder will soon support recording to SR codec.
There is even a QT plugin support for SR codec and AMA plugin for Avid. Sony has done a great job adding support for the format.

Hmm.. How do you try it in Scratch or Startup mode?
Thanks Sascha

March 5, 2012 at 6:37 pmScratch I think requires ASSIMILATE Scratch. Startup mode you can enter by disconneting/reconnecting the USB cable without the driver loaded. I.e at the login screen on a davinci system. Or on a system without resolve or the tangent software installed.

March 5, 2012 at 7:02 pmI assume then that it is the extracted H264 variant that is otherwise recorded directly to tape.

March 5, 2012 at 7:07 pmSR Codec is a combination AVC and Wavelet compression scheme, recorded at 440 or 880mbps. Just like the data that gets recorded onto the tape.

March 5, 2012 at 7:47 pmwhy BM is not sending email updates that a new version is available to registered customers of the full version?
