Is there any difference running 8.2 on 10.6 or 10.7 on a MacPro? There is no “must have” features why I should upgrade in the middle of project, but still if I get some better performance I will. Is Lion any better OS X for Resolve and is there any difference in nVidia drivers running on 10.6 or 10.7? What do you think of my upgrading?

    Cheers!

I can’t speak to the os being better or worse. But the latest nvidia drivers added support for the pc version of graphics cards to be used as cuda processors. That’s a HUGE improvement from the limited number of supported cards in snow leopard.

Hi Juan tnx for fast reply!
I know about new cards, but my MacPro is not quite new (3,1) and I use Quadro FX 4800 for GPU in Resolve. Just asking will there be any difference for this older setup to upgrade? I will but not in the middle of the project if there is no performance difference.
    Cheers,

    If it ain’t broke…

Probably best to be cautious and wait till your project is done. Other than the expanded GPU support, I haven’t seen a notable difference between lion and snow leopard.

[Juan Salvo] “a notable difference between lion and snow leopard.”

LION crushes your previously supported PowerPC applications.

You’re still running powerpc applications? Are you using os 9 too?
