I just want to add my vote and a petition to the powers that be at CreativeCow.net to please add a DaVinci Lite forum, and keep this just as DaVinci.

    Thanks!

What will be the difference? What’s the reason for that? Software is the same…

I bet some people find it disturbing to read all the days “i have not to specs gonfig and nothing works”.

Mostly it is that why it is talked to have separate forums.

I don’t think it’s about Lite / Full versions – it’s about basic config issues vs workflow and other questions. I do agree that separating things in that manner could be an improvement, but then again, would the people who could actually answer the newbie questions ever feel inclined to visit that forum……

or a separate DaVinci config forum as mentioned before… the config questions of out of specs systems are cluttering up this forum….
    my 2 cents…

I disagree. There seem to be only around 3-5 new topics per day so it is easy to ignore any you are not interested in and notice the threads you prefer to follow. It would be more annoying to have two separate forums, both of which may happen to have useful and relevant information – there would surely be at least some posts turn up in the “newbie” or “configuration” oriented forum that might be of interest to more experienced users and vice versa.

Maybe if there were 20+ new topics a day another forum could be warranted but certainly not at current levels.

Well..it is getting boring with so many lite config questions, maybe that’s why there’s only 3-5 post a day now

I would tend to agree.. Maybe a setup&configure group would be useful. I would love to get back to discussions on theory and craft. We don’t seem to talk about that very much anymore.
    Sadly!

    Thats exactly my point.
Maybe a simple divide into “Hardware/Software related” and “Production related” would do the trick.
Some of us doing complex TV shows, full features and VFX pipeline setups while others are still trying to get playback on their home computers.
Its a different story to get Resolve up and running and using it in client production.
It may sound snobbish that we don’t wanna play with the noobs, but frankly I think its BMDs job in the first place to make their customers happy and get the product to work and then, when workflow problems show up, we are more than happy to help.
Its just hard to follow when so many similar threads regarding the first steps show up in the same place.

That seems a really reasonable point. But I think it could be taken a step broader. What the cow could really benefit from is a Color Correction Workflow and Techniques forum that could encompass all grading systems, not just resolve. As many of the techniques and workflows we use could just as easily be applied to other systems.

I also think it would be great if the COW had some sticky threads which answer all of the basic hardware questions.

    i.e.

Q: “I got a six year old G4 power book, why can’t I grade my 4K feature film on it with Resolve??” A: “You can’t… holds head in hand and weeps softly”
