I usually sync all footage in a timeline manually, then I delete the audio attached to the video, and link the external audio to the video. I then just copy from any clip I want from the sync timeline and paste into my working timeline. I didn’t realize you could just drag into the bin to make a merged clip. Probably would be much better that way as you can use the source monitor again.

That’s strange. What is your exact version of Premiere, OS version, computer specs, etc?

FWIW to anyone who may come across this, the presets didn’t help me at all

Is there a LUT or other color correction being applied in Premiere? I don’t think any Premiere effects will show up in AE

I experience similar issues. Every time I reopen Premiere, it randomly chooses which sequences to have open. It is very frustrating and time consuming. I have not solution, I just have a workaround of labeling all the sequences I am currently working with to a different color in the bin. Makes it a bit quicker

Success? 320×240 is definitely way too small for me to use but maybe sticking with a preset will cause it to work?

    Nope :/

Like I said, every now and then I could get it to work. It seemed to happen when I would try a direct export using Quicktime with SV3 compression. But even that barely worked, so I ended up taking the whole project into Premiere CC via XML. No more CC2014 until this and other issues are resolved. Are you on a Mac or PC?

The amount of difficulty of course varies according to the system’s power, as well as the amount of footage. On a 2012 iMac with an i7 and 8GB of RAM I can edit native h.264 on sequences with a final video of < 5 minutes no problem. But when working on sequences longer than that with several layers, h.264 definitely starts to make it chug

Walter nailed it (as always). The two absolutes based on your questions are do NOT rename your files in explorer, and it is absolutely ok to copy and paste a project file in explorer if that’s how you like to back up. But for the most part, every editor works differently. You might benefit to a small degree and be fascinated to watch a pro editor work, but ultimately his/her workflow might not be good for you. Everybody has their slight differences, the key is just to find what works for you and organize EVERYTHING in some sort of consistent way

There’s a force motion blur effect in AE which is pretty effective. (It may now be called Pixel Motion Blur, in which case I am just doubling Walter’s suggestion.) It is pretty processor intensive though, so a good workflow would be to make your cut, then add the effect as a final touch along with your color correction
