Dan, once again you are a frickin’ genius. Thank you so much

  • John, this is great stuff, thanks!

  • Chaz, this works great, thank you so much

  • I agree about converting to a constant frame rate before importing in Premiere. Audio drift is going to be an issue regardless. Last time I worked with VFR I had to manually slip the audio when appropriate. Now maybe there are better ways of automatically doing it but I doubt it. Any auto sync feature will sync the audio at a certain point but it can’t sync it all the way without trimming out some audio or video. I found that the best workflow is to work with it kind of synced, then if a portion of the interview you’re using is out of sync by 10-20 frames you manually slip the audio right before the used portion

Hello all, I know this is very old but I thought I’d share my solution. When I came across this issue, I found that the source was an internet connectivity issue. In my case, my VPN was trying to connect and therefore I couldn’t connect to the internet. Check any firewalls to make sure Adobe has total access.

  • Thank you for sharing your solution Rob. Only Adobe would make a program that recognizes alpha channels, unless it comes from their own software… Nevertheless your trick is helpful. Thanks!!

Sadly not. At this point I’ve just accepted that for whatever reason masks in Premiere absolutely suck. I assume it’s something under the hood of premiere that just makes masks not work well. Maybe a future version will fix these issues but in the meantime I just deal with the maddening slowness and do any intense masking in AE
