So we’re having a little bit of a technical problem with Adobe Premiere that is costing us about 30-60 minutes every day. We’re in the heart of a feature documentary edit and this technical issue is hurting our schedule.

What’s happening is every time we close our project and open it a few things happen. All of our open sequences get messed up. Some disappear from the timeline, the get reorganized, some new ones open. For example. See the attached screen shot. We just opened our project this morning and there are sequences that were open that are not there. This is a huge organizational thing for us. So each morning the editor has to go find the sequences he was working on and reopen and reorganize them. It just started recently – it was not always happening. We are on the most current build of Adobe Premiere CC 2014.

Are the projects being opened in another edit bay, saved and then re-opened by the editor having issues? Or is all of the project taking place on one machine? If the project is being touched by other editors, check to make sure the “work spaces” are not being imported with the project. You check this under the Window/Workspace/Import Workspace from projects menu. If there is a check mark, the project will carry the whole work space look from the last person that opened it. If it is not checked, the last workspace the editor had should open up. Just something to check that might be affecting what you are seeing.

I experience similar issues. Every time I reopen Premiere, it randomly chooses which sequences to have open. It is very frustrating and time consuming. I have not solution, I just have a workaround of labeling all the sequences I am currently working with to a different color in the bin. Makes it a bit quicker

The project file is being opened on the same computer. For example, last night we left the edit at about 10pm and closed the project upon leaving. The next morning we came back and opened that project back up to have sequences in our workspace disappear and out of order. The workspace layout is not affected, just the sequences that we have open.

I’ve had this same annoying issue as well.

This, along with PPro twirling up my bins is getting me very annoyed.

I had a similar problem. Solution was to start a new project and re-import the existing project into the new project. Must have reset some settings.

Tried that Al, didn’t help me.

I’m having the same issues as well. Reordering of the bins as well as the disappearing and out of order sequences. The only thing I can think of are that my projects were converted from the 2013 version of PPro CC and that might be part of the issue. Is this the case with any of your projects or did you start from fresh in 2014 CC?

This just started happening to me, too. I have a project that has a LOT of sequences, and every time I reopen the project, I have to sift through sequences to find where I was working last. It also happens if I switch between editing and color correction workspaces. Resetting workspaces doesn’t help.
