I’ve used cables in excess of 20 feet myself personally (in my lab as well as at shows). But for those longer runs I always buy the more expensive cables.
The ones i’ve used have all been passive. But again…I have good feelings about a proper HDMI repeater cable. So you should be good.

None of those cables are compatible. So, I imagine your issue is that the Decklink Studio cables are shorter than the Decklink SP. Not to mention, the Decklink SP cable was made to connect directly to the back of a deck, and the Decklink Studio was made to connect to patch cables.
This change was made as we had many customers that found the cable on the SP either too short or too long and this allowed them to use simple patch cables (rather than extnesion cables) of any length they wanted.
We do have pinout diagrams available for all of our boards so if you would like to make a custom cable (or have one made for you), just let us know and we can provide that to you. Though realistically it is probably easier to just use a few patch cables (though I don’t like having any more junctions than necessary).

Well…7.4 is only for PC. Latest release for Mac is still 7.3.2.
At this time the Video Desktop is not coming back. Please understand that it was not removed accidentally, it was a decisions that was intentionally made.

Okay…so i’ve downloaded your file. And yes, I see the Component looks obviously worse than the S-Video. Color is different as well as the there seems to be some green in the back wall.
So, first I would ask if you’ve changed the color settings in the video adjustments area. Each may need independant settings.
Another thing, is to rule out any weird compression anomolies can you check both of these captures in uncompressed.

The 10bit BMD Uncompressed files have the same 4cc code that is used by the 10bit QT uncompressed files in our project settings in FCP. The 8bit is a little more complicated. The 4cc codes are different so you have to use our 4cc code converter on the FCP side which will change the 4cc code of the 8bit AVI uncompressed files.
It’s really quick and easy. Then you can import them into FCP (it will pop a message saying that something is up with the file…just click okay and the file should work).

Personally I would go one or two models higher. This would cover you for any new features that might be released that might cause additional overhead.
Outside of that, 512MB of memory should be enough, and more is better. The difference between DDR2 and 3 should not be a big deal.
Again, I still recommend shooting over the minimum.

Almost garaunteed that it is the first generation of card (though the name above the serial number will say specifically HD Extreme, HD Extreme 2 or HD Extreme 3). But the 2006 date suggests the first gen. Sanity check: This unit has no HDMI ports on it correct?
Any ways, this sounds like the issue I mentioned earlier where the ref detection doesnt always work on those earlier board. Can you confirm that the board is actually locked? Without using the BMD control panel?

You can use either Photoshop CS4 or Photoshop CS4 Extended.
Once you install the photoshop, reinstall our drivers and that should make sure the plugin is installed in the proper folder.
Once that’s done you should be good to go. Open up the preferences and set your output resolution to the appropriate selection. Then you can select to use the plugin through the “import/export” function.
Another option…and I don’t recommend this…in fact I recommend against it, is to go back to the last driver that supported Video Desktop…but…again, I don’t recommend it.

Intensity as well as all of our boards are now working quite well with CS4. It was a rough start for sure, but we are in a good spot now.
As for a 30′ run of HDMI, that could be a problem. But the repeater should work, but we haven’t tested that cable so can’t confirm. But I would guess it will work. I would check it with a shorter run first, to make sure all is working then put the longer cable on and test it.
