Bleh, we’ve tested SDI…I think the issue is that on our newer board we do actually support 24p over component.

We’ll test this config as well.

To follow up on Sarah’s post.

I’m willing to bet this can be addressed Via software update (I don’t see why it couldn’t be). But it’s the time frame that we are more uncertain of at this time. We’ll keep an eye on the bug to see any movement.

Okay..cool. Well, I’ll have one of my techs check this field order issue out.

I think I know why this may happen. Essentially DV is lower field and we don’t output DV over SDI, we don’t output DV at all. Instead we output D1 which is 720×486 UFF. The scaling should be handled by putting lines of black at the top and bottom which would be a standard DV->D1 conversion to preventing stretching and nasty softening. And the field order reversal should happen before it’s given over to our card. Because CS6 was such a large change with how our board integrated it is quite possible that this field order change simply doesn’t happen.

That said, can you define what you mean by the issue is different if you are using the hardware transmit engine and when you are not? I know you mentioned using the hack, which means we won’t know if the software even “SHOULD” render that correctly, but that’s not a sticking point. I’ll test both with a supported card, if the issue is the same we can rule out the CUDA board. But first I need to know what the differences are that I should expect.

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

  • Guys,

USB3 can be tough to get working. We’ve been fighting this with the manufacturers for a while. It’s unfortunate, but we simply cannot dictate how the USB3 is integrated into the motherboard. For what it’s worth we have had better success with USB3 add in boards, but not all of those work well either.

Thunderbolt is a totally different beast. There is tighter control placed on how the TB interface is actually integrated, and I suspect we’ll have much better luck and support with this interface.

But we’d really like to help you out if we can. So if you email us at support-usa@blackmagicdesign.com and put a link to this thread in there and put attn Joshua in the subject. We’ll reach out and discuss some options.

Of course if you are just completely done, I can certainly understand the frustration, but drop us a line and let’s see what we can work out.

    Sincerely,

Well, typically the output of the card will be delayed behind the program monitor a few frames. And Consumer TVs could also make this appear worse as they often process the input.

  • Hey guys,

I’ve posted this in another thread, but i’m curious if you guys might be getting hit by something similar. can you give these drivers a try and let me know if your situation improves?

Interesting…so the Decklink Studio 2 doesn’t behave this way but hte Ultrastudio SDI does. Let me have one of my techs test this out.

Just to confirm, because the Studio 2 has split output, you are using the SDI on the back of the board and NOT the break out cable correct?

    Hey all,

Good news, we’ve found the memory leak in CS6 for both mac and PC and the updated drivers are going through QA now. In the mean time, if you guys would like here are a couple of seeds for you to try out and see if it helps.

Look forward to hearing your results on this.

    MAC:

As I mentioned these are still going through QA, but if you’d like feel free to download these and give them a go.

  • Hey David,

Completely understand. As i mentioned we are seeing some of this behavior as well. We are trying to narrow it down some. We’re going to try with some h.264 clips next.

That is certainly odd behavior. We wouldn’t expect that to be the case. Can you do me a favor and try the same setup in Media Express? It should be a quick test, just take a 23.98PsF clip and put it in there. I want to make sure that Resolve isn’t doing something to adjust the output.
