On the Decklink HD Extreme 3, 3D, and 3D+ this is possible. But not on our other boards. So check your serial number (if you have a board already). If not and you are looking to purchase, then you’ll end up buying the HD Extreme 3D+ so you’ll be all good.

This is true. The ATEM TVStudio is designed to do SD, it just hasn’t be enabled yet in the software. So as of the time of this posting it can only do HD as Ken has said.
Also feature is in active development and we hope to have this firmware out for you guys very soon.

If it is an Mac Pro (that means it has an intel Processor) it will work fine. It will NOT work on the last model of G5 which also had PCI-express slots.
But the first gen MacPro did have PCI-express slots.

Okay…this is actually not quite as hard as it seems. First thing you’ll need to do is go into the Blackmagic Control panel and choose the audio tab. Once there, make sure there is a check in the “Use Hi-Fi audio” box. This will set the Audio output of the Decklink Studio 2 to be Unbalanced audio (which is what your stereo speakers are).

Currently it only captures the first 2 channels. That means that if you want to capture channels 3/4 you’ll need to re-embed them first.

So the encode itself is done on the hardware and does not require much overhead at all. But as you’ve mentioned the preview is generated in software is quite intensive.
I think we’d like to optimize this in the future, but I don’t know if there is any specific plan for it. I’d personally like to see the file decoded on the GPU which would reduce overhead greatly as the GPU’s do this very elegantly already. But doing this for all types of graphics boards on Mac and Windows is not necessarily a small task. But still it’s something I’d like to see done.
If I’m not mistaken the driver itself is actually a 64 bit driver. I thought the software was 64bit as well but it is curiously in the 32 bit folder. So I’ll try to verify that if I can.
As far as using it on 32bit, we haven’t done anything to make it NOT work. However it is not a platform that we test. Currently all of our testing is done on 64 bit platform. It is quickly growing as the dominant Windows OS and it helps to streamline our testing (we have a lot of products).
Many of us at Blackmagic try to respond to as many threads as possible but we simply can’t get to all of them. But we do our best.

I responded to you directly in email as well. This is again for other peoples reference. Please verify that your project is set to a video format that the Intensity Pro can support. Of all the boards the Intensity supports fewer formats than some of the others.
So what format are you working in. We can try to recreate what you’re doing in our labs.

As mentioned in the email (this is for the benefit of others) that error is basically referencing that the card is being expected to produce a frame rate that it doesn’t support. Shifting to one of the supported formats makes this error go away.
What I do have to look into is that for some reason it allows me to setup a 720p30 project which is a format that board does not support. So in my opinion that should not be an option (it should show 720p60 and it’s variants). So we’ll need to look into that.

hrm…I wouldn’t think you should hear electrical noise…I’m wondering if we still shouldn’t just replace it to make sure there’s no issue with that fan. May you can send us an audio clip we can listen to to better determine.
