Two things….driver 8.6.1 and higher have reduced the fan speed as it was excessive. This should reduce noise significantly. UNLESS!~!!

Unless the fan is being obstructed by the foam grommet that prevents vibration from the chassis. Or if the fan is failing.

In the first case the fan will be slowed down and the device will quiet. In the second two cases, the fan is being obstructed doing two things, making noise and causing the device to overheat. So if you notice the device is hot…and I mean hotter than hellfire and damnation, then that fan may be obstructed and you should contact us so we can replace it for you.

If you haven’t installed the Desktop Video software on that machine you should. This will make sure the proper codec is installed for you to use during Export. After that it shouldn’t be a problem.

November 15, 2011 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Anyone else a little frustrated?

Of course we understand the frustration when a product comes out and doesn’t have the features you expect. That’s one of the toughest things.

We are constantly making choices that basically equate to, put the product out now (example TVStudio without SD support) or hold it back for another few months. For those that needed the SD, this is less than ideal. Though for people using HD only, this actually works out better. It’s a bit of give and take. Though we do our best to add those features in as soon as we possibly can.

As for the H.264 Pro Recorder, that’s a very strange situation. The response time seems VERY long which should not be happening. Interestingly enough the updating drivers advise was probably good advice as there have been several stability tweaks in the Desktop Video drivers specifically for that product. Though it is clear that as you mentioned the point is rather moot.

But I apologize that you had a bad experience, we’ll try to make it better next time.

    Sincerely,

Unfortunately we do not have any of those. We also cannot get them. So i’m sorry to say we really can’t help with this one.

  • That’s great news. The 8.6 version of the drivers should help with the other issue you were having (the files not being registered properly is a digital signing issue).

So when the next driver comes out give it a go (and disable AV while installing).

Sorry…when I say i’d not seen it, I should have mentioned that i’ve personally never received a call or email about it. Forums are a different matter. But point taken.

Well…recording it’s not really using the genlock as it should be the output that is locked. So during record it will rely on the source being locked.

As for the output not being locked…it most definitely should be. I’ll have to check.

I don’t think that we have enabled the Video Desktop feature on that board (as we enabled on some of the older boards).

  • Also, just as a quick test. Please set the capture to SD and get capture working. Once that is done, switch back to HD and let us know if that helps. I’ve seen this happen once before (and it never happened after).

So let us know, and of course let us know what you are capturing from.

Yup, this is still not active just yet. But I think it is set for the next major update.
