Likely the worst possible choice to do anything meaningful with. You are only a thou or two short of being able to afford a Flanders, and you’re going to spend that money on either a load of questionable calibration gear to prop up an inappropriate choice or pay someone to “bless” an inappropriate choice.
I’m in and out of my own facility and a few others who have *many* FS monitors in operation now, and totally worth the investment… possibly the best bang for the buck, with an amazing array of I/O options and on-screen measurement, if you’re into that kind of thing… ie., doing it right the first time.

At last count, there are three surfaces that work; DaVinci’s dedicated set, the Artist, and the Tangent Wave.
So, in short, the history so far is that a vast array of commercial surfaces that are already out there are not supported, and unlikely to be, let alone a DIY project. The interface is complicated. Even manufacturers like Tangent have made no other offerings available, even though several of us have some formerly not inexpensive panels (200-series, anyone?) and would dearly like to offset the investment with a revenue stream, because the COLOR model is running dry…

It is evolving, yes. I think we’re up to about 12 pages of ^v keypresses with 8.1.

I started out with an e-Cinema DCM-23, but after the DVI interface went AWOL when I sent it back to the company for a firmware upgrade (“It will only take a couple of days!”, and “Its in the mail!”), I gave up on it after over a year of no further response. My perception is of a disappeared company.
So I ponied up for a Flanders 2461, which is just fine, and several were purchased by a customer of mine with a distributed workflow for consistency among rooms. Its fidelity is quite good, but the on-screen scopes, mostly the audio monitoring and so on, “completed” me — I had erred in configuring my TVM-900 outboard scope without audio, so that base has now been covered. The connectivity includes just about everything you could possibly need.

Maybe you should upgrade to version 8.1 since support for that laptop is now part of the application.

You should consult the configuration guide in the Blackmagic REsolve support page. I would beware of anything including and beyond 6.8. Apple appears to be sowing a lot of poison pills in their iOS now.

It may have something to do with the MXF wrapper. I don’t really know, but I do see a big difference in rendering performance. A ProRes render looked like it was playing in real time (rendering at about 24 fps), but DNxHD/MXF exports average about 16-18 fps with similar node counts.
