Apple led cinema display calibration
Hi,
we’re starting to do color grading with resolve, as we cannot afford to buy a high-end calibrated monitor, we would like to get the best out of our Apple led cinema displays in the meantime. We also have a Sony Bravia HD TV connected to the system, but I guess the Cinema displays will be more accurate ?!?
What is the best approach to calibrate them, hire a professional? Buy something like a “Display 3 PRO Colorimeter” (which doesn’t seem to provide a software for Mac OS X)?
Can I expect a decent result from the Cinema displays for TV production purposes?
Thanks for your insights and thoughts, I’ve been reading quite some posts but I lake some experience to get my head around this.

Likely the worst possible choice to do anything meaningful with. You are only a thou or two short of being able to afford a Flanders, and you’re going to spend that money on either a load of questionable calibration gear to prop up an inappropriate choice or pay someone to “bless” an inappropriate choice.
I’m in and out of my own facility and a few others who have *many* FS monitors in operation now, and totally worth the investment… possibly the best bang for the buck, with an amazing array of I/O options and on-screen measurement, if you’re into that kind of thing… ie., doing it right the first time.

Thanks a lot Joseph, I didn’t know about the Flanders monitors. The LM-2140W is about 2’500$, that’s a pretty affordable deal. Would you say that it’s a good monitor to work for the grading of TV commercials with DaVinci Resolve and a Blackmagic DeckLink Studio card? Would that be a decent setup?
