Well, I checked it out on my FCP 5.0.4 and no luck. The only way I can think of is After Effects.

As for the computer, great. As for the capture card, if you’re going to be doing nothing but digital then the Kona 3 is good, but if you’re going to need analog footage for any reason, and who doesn’t, then I would get the Kona LHe which will do both. Also get the FCP 5.1 as it will do any of the old and any of the new intel macs.

When I get that general error it’s usually because I’m trying to save the footage to the os drive. Not that I mean to. Good luck.

About the only thing that came out that was new for FCP and others is the multibridge from Deckllink. Apple did not have anything and AJA came out with their Kona 3 already so nothing there. Avid kicked ass so FCP might be in for a hard run.

Several ways to do this. One is to make all the clips in the sequence master clips, then delete all the others. Or, you can go to the media manager and delete all clips except the ones in the sequence.

Bunches of things to do. First, make sure you have the SDI/ilink button set to ilink. Make sure firewire is plugged in. Make sure the remote/local switch it set to remote. Hit the menu button and go to system setup. Go down to interface, Hit the right button to go to next menu, it will probably say Video out. scroll down to remote I/F. Hit right button again to make sure it says ilink, if not change it.
That’s all the things I can think of. Good luck.

No matter what you’re using FCP does not want to capture more that 30 minutes at a time. It’s just one of those quirks we love so much. Try starting a new project and bring in the rest of the footage.

You will not lose any quality because firewire is pure digital.

You can bring it in, edit it in 24p and output it on BetaSP without any changes to the piece. You won’t see any degradation in the look. You might need to Print to tape instead of edit to tape but that’s not a big deal. The only time you would have trouble transfering from digital to analog is if you were using HDV. I think you would still be ok if you were using HD. The forum will correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Can’t you just export the project as a QT reference( not a self contained movie) and drop that into DVD SP and burn it? that would allow the text or anything else you need.
