  • General Error Message in FCP

Trying to export clips that have been sped up to mimic time lapse effect. Whenever I try to export these clips I get just a simple “General Error” message. That’s all FCP says back to me. The footage was shot on DV. I took real time footage that lasts about an hour long then did a fit to fill in another sequence to fit the hour into a four minute time slot. I’ve rendered it out and it plays back fine in the timeline, but when I want to export it as a quicktime file (animation codec) I get the damn “General Error” message. I’ve brought the sequence into new projects, I’ve re-installed FCP, but the same thing happens. If I try exporting any other clip I don’t encounter any issues. What is the problem? Please help. CIAO for now!!!!

When I get that general error it’s usually because I’m trying to save the footage to the os drive. Not that I mean to. Good luck.
