I don’t use Avid Sonic, and I’m not familiar with the workflow – HOWEVER…
Have you checked your interlace settings? In Sorenson, you need to encode your project WITHOUT auto-deinterlacing (in other words, Sorenson does a very poor job of removing fields from an NTSC interlaced materiel). Try these basic settings as well:
When you encode your QT reference, under options encode as native dimensions and color space of 601/709. (I’m working under the assumption you have the option to set your preferences – if not, tell us how your workflow works…)Also, check this out.

I agree with Chaz – I’d like to see less than perfect footage. Of course, I used footage from ‘Gunsmoke’ on a 3/4″ system (and you slipped your edit 10 frames because the pre-roll was so unreliable!)
Also, with that amount of footage, it might be overwhelming for new editors to go through in time to complete a project (thinking of a classroom situation here…)Jon

The thing that jumps out at me is your OS – Avid is certified to run on Windows XP w/ SP2. There have been numerous problems with XP Home…

The idea of media mover is to find media associated with a particular project. It’s particularly useful in finding files to either archive or delete. It will only MOVE files – it does nothing else. You will not have a duplicate in your OMFI file. You say your Avid scans “forever” for missing media files. How long is ‘forever’? On startup, the Avid will scan your media drives, and if you have a large amount of storage, it is normal to take several minutes on start up. You can delete your media database in each OMFI folder, but Avid will still scan each OMFI folder. Keep in mind Avid is only looking in the OMFI folders. MediaMover creates a new folder with the name of the project in the drive outside the OMFI folder.

Are you sure your footage was recorded in SP, and not LP?…. I’m running out of ideas here (unless you caught the line from a previous post regarding problems Avid has found with the PD-150…)

back for any resolution.Have you gotten this error from the beginning? Have you tried check decks in the digitize tool? Have you tried trashing your MCState files? (in C:/Program Files/Avid/Avid XPress Pro/Settings) Tried a new user setting? Have you tried different deck settings (like generic)?

Make sure your camera is on before you start your Avid software. You are a little light in the RAM department, but I don’t think that’s the issue.
