Whew, that testing the old memory banks….
I don’t think AVR77 showed up until later – I think the highest resolution available was AVR25 or AVR27 – could be wrong though.
Check your settings and make sure you don’t have ‘drive filtering based on resoution” checked… I don’t remember where it was in that version – maybe media creation???
Do you have documentation with your system? Are you running the correct OS? You should be able to still get it at Apple…
As far as the audio card – I don’t know. Is it the original card, or after market? Avid’s from that period were notoriously picky (yes, more than now!) regarding what was plugged in where.

Why not export your AE sequence with just the graphics / text, using an alpha channel? Did you affect the video as well? I’m not sure you going to get a smaller file out of AE, unless you chop the export into chunks…

There will be patient privacy issues. If you find a doctor who has done this before, you’re in luck. You’ll need at least a month of lead time. The doctor can talk to the patient, get their buy in and possibly sign a release.
You’ll want to talk the OR staff, and find out what they want to do with your camera. Many times, they’ll put a surgical blanket or something similiar. You’ll also need to position yourself where you are out of the way, or have a REALLY good relationship with the surgeon. They’ll want to know where you are, where you intend to go (and may put limits on you) – again, if you find a doc who has worked with a crew before, that’s better.
Make sure everyone is on the same page. The hospital staff is most concerned with the health and safety of the patient (rightly so). If possible, observe the same operation (performed by the same surgeon) before you actually start taping.

Another Avid specific thing to try is using interpolated frames insted of upper or lower – you see a much smoother slo mo…

Did you install the driver as instructed in the readme? There are also a couple of little quirks listed in the readme (and I don’t remember them because I’m not in front of an Avid…) you might want to review.

Are you SURE you have every window away from your record monitor? Even just barely? That is most likely the issue….

Do a search on Amazon – there a plenty of good ones. There’s one by Steve Bayes in particular that is full of info.
