    Hi everyone!

I’m having a problem playing back the timeline video in the source and composer window. It keeps flashing a white border around the sides. I have tried following all the other suggestions about making sure there are no other windows overlapping but it is still not playing the video. I’ve never had this problem with Avid Xpress 4.6, but ever since upgrading to Avid Xpress Pro HD it’s been driving me bonkers! Any suggestions?? Help!!

Are you SURE you have every window away from your record monitor? Even just barely? That is most likely the issue….

Also make sure the window is touching teh edge of the viewable area of the monitor.

i have no flippin’ idea what’s going w/ my avid, i’m gonna prob just try reinstalling, is there something maybe w/ updating to ‘windows xp sp2’ that’s messing w/ my system, because i downloaded sp2 update, only because avid xpress hd needs it?

You definitely need SP2 to run 5.0, but not 4.X. In fact, if you are running 4.X on SP2, that could be the source of some major glitches.

i doubt it, but does my problem have anything to do w/ running windows xp home edition? and also has constantly updating ‘microsoft updates’ affected anyone?

I have the same problem with the flashing white border. I will move my monitors so they are touching no edges and I still will not be able to get rid of the flashing white border. The only way I can fix it is to shutdown avid and reboot (restarting avid does not even work). I feel it may have begun when I updated to the newest, but supported, Nvidia drivers

i think i can live with it for now, it’s just weird i can play things fromt he timeline fine, but as soon as try to play something in the source or record window, it goes bonkers. strangely though it will play if drag the indicator to the beginning of either composer window, so go figure?!
