Can anyone explain the process of mediamover. I can’t find where to select the drive you want to archive to, such as a usb mass storage drive. Or does it just organize the media into folders on the same drive as the original media. If so do you end up with 2 files of everything or does it physically move into a new folder being the name of the actual project. Should I tell it to move all
media for me then physically drag those folders to a removable drive. If so, when I go back to Avid it starts to scan for media missing forever. Should I back Up project files immediately after archiving media files before launching express. It would be great If someone could explain the actual process.

The idea of media mover is to find media associated with a particular project. It’s particularly useful in finding files to either archive or delete. It will only MOVE files – it does nothing else. You will not have a duplicate in your OMFI file. You say your Avid scans “forever” for missing media files. How long is ‘forever’? On startup, the Avid will scan your media drives, and if you have a large amount of storage, it is normal to take several minutes on start up. You can delete your media database in each OMFI folder, but Avid will still scan each OMFI folder. Keep in mind Avid is only looking in the OMFI folders. MediaMover creates a new folder with the name of the project in the drive outside the OMFI folder.
