What were your settings? What version of Quicktime do you have?

Have you guys tried the ‘normal’ stuff, like trashing your MCState? Different (or new) user settings?

    It is an off thing…

  • I’ve not heard of anything like that, especially running on a laptop…
During the course of my research, I’ve found most companies (at least Chyron, Inscriber and the like) don’t offer cards. Pinnacle offered a standalone card, as did Chyron but stopped for one reason – CPU manufacturers changed their MOBO configurations to often. I’ve got a Pinnacle Deko100 I can’t find a replacement CPU for – it needs side by side AGP and PCI slots. If you find something post it here. I’d be very interested.

For full screen graphics, you could do PowerPoint and a scan converter…

    OK – dumb question….

Are you sure you’ve selected the proper input in the digitize tool? Sorry for the basic question, but trying to imagine what’s wrong. If you deselect the TC track, will the capture work?

Are you trying to capture DVCPro50 by chance? According to the device list (https://www.avid.com/content/8927/SUPPORTED%20DEVICES%20FOR%20AVID%20EDITOR%20PRODUCTS.pdf), DVCPro50 is not supported with this deck…

Install sorenson if it isn’t already…

Export a QT reference (right click on your sequence, send to>encoding>sorenson)
You’ll get a dialog box – select your path (click set) and check your settings (click options)
Click OK – Avid will create a QT reference and open Sorenenson.
In Sorenson (depending on which version you have, you’ll have a little ‘wrench’ icon or go to tools and filters (I think…) make sure auto de-interlacing is OFF.
apply the MPEG-2 options, and keep your data rate around 4500-5000kbs, 6 I-frames (for high motion), or 12 I-frames (for talking heads) and program stream
    Squeeze it!
It will put your file in the same place you put your QT ref, so pay attention to where you sent it out the Avid.
You now have a .mpv file and a seperate audio file.
I use ReelDVD (it came with Avid) and Adobe Encore to burn the DVD.

Also, check out Avid’s forum site (https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/thread/4408.aspx)
There’s a wealth of info – scroll down to the ‘How to DVD’ section.

In your situation, I’d say FW is best – it stays digital the whole way.

How much RAM do you have? What’s your OS? What model is your CPU?

These specific questions are very important. Avid is certified to run on very specific configurations. So far, it appears your card is not supported…
