Can’t you add a shadow in spectramatte? I thought it was toward the bottom of the effect pallette, in one of the twirly triangles….

Good – glad you sussed it out.
For future reference, Avid is VERY sensitive to the QT version you have installed. In other words, turn off automatic updates in system preferences, AND iTunes. It’s very much a pain to roll back a quicktime version in a Mac.Jon

I use -14. It’s what my decks say, anyway.

What version of QT? MC 3.0 only goes as far as 7.4.5…

Do you have any other firewire component hooked up? The Mojo MUST have it’s own firewire buss – no sharing.

Well, I’m not sure ‘fussy’ gives the proper nuance. Avid certifies certain cards to reduce the tech support nightmare. I wouldn’t characterize your card as out of date – just not on the Avid list. Will it work? Probably. Will it work flawlessly? I’m not so sure. There have been people who run XPress on a Windows XP Media Center OS (definitely NOT a certified OS) for months without any problems, then BAM – it stops working.
Hopefully a Mac user will chime in on this….

The biggest issues I’ve heard of are your OS, Quicktime version and video cards. The requirements are here:
