    Hi all

Bit of a newbie to Avid – usually an FCP editor. However, I’ve just installed MC on my home Mac where I’m going to be cutting a short shot on XDCAM EX.

“Aha!” I think… This is a good chance to get properly to grips with MC on my own terms. So, I’ve transferred all the XDCAM EX footage through the Sony XDCAM Transfer software which I’ve used with FCP plenty of times. And then gone to import the quicktimes that its created into Avid.

However… it won’t import the audio! From having a bit of a search around – am I correct in saying Avid won’t support the Big Endian codec which all the footage is? Plays fine in QT and FCP and converting a clip into little endian seems to allow an Avid import. Is there any way round it apart from converting all the material’s audio?

(Using MC 3.0 by the way – on a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with OSX 10.5.5)

    Thanks all!

What version of QT? MC 3.0 only goes as far as 7.4.5…

    QT 7.5.5.
Could that be the problem? I suppose if its not supported *officially* then there may be some quirks?

Good – glad you sussed it out.
For future reference, Avid is VERY sensitive to the QT version you have installed. In other words, turn off automatic updates in system preferences, AND iTunes. It’s very much a pain to roll back a quicktime version in a Mac.
