    Rainer,

Are you not familiar with Proavio Storage products? A number of people have commented on our gear, with a 3 year warranty & 1 year advanced replacement & us standing behind our products you can’t go wrong.

We’ve got products validated by Blackmagic Design, Matrox, Bluefish 444 & Adobe.

    We’re all about content creation.

  • Pascal,

Right forum, but for what you want to do, it’s one or the other.
Affordable or Powerful. That I know of, having both would be a tough call.

Of course much of the answer to your question would be to define your budget, as to the affordability end of your requirement.

You mentioned sharing the video footage & making it accessible to every Mac in your office. Doing so at any appreciable speed is going to cost money.

my 2 cents, Bob & Alex are right. Areca 1882x or ATTO R680 either way, you’ll be good.

    Tony,

    We’ve communicated in the past.

It does appear that the Stardom forum is gone. I’m pretty sure you can find what you need however at https://www.macsales.com It looks like they’ve picked up the Stardom line.

September 11, 2012 at 8:43 pm in reply to: caldigit/G-Raid with sata speed problems?

    John,

You can try giving CalDigit a call, (I used to work there), but I’m pretty sure that the speeds you’re seeing are within “normal” parameters. The 220MB/s speed you indicated wanting to see is a “theoretical maximum” speed & you wouldn’t necessarily expect to see that, especially out of a 2 drive RAID 0 setup. 4 drives would likely give you a bit more speed, (if they were in 1 enclosure) but not much more….

    Hope this helps.

    Geir,

Since nobody else had commented, my 2 cents. I’d get hold of Promise & see what they say.

August 14, 2012 at 11:50 pm in reply to: Is USB 3.0 enough for normal HD editing?

    Ondrej,

Will you be able to accomplish what you want to do on the drives you indicated & codec? Yes. Will you be able to edit in real time? No. A suggestion would be to go with more than 2 drives, say a 4 drive setup. A Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 adapter doesn’t make sense, I don’t think you’ll see that. It’s either USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt.

    Hope that helps.
