Marcus,
Quickly remove the UpRez effect from the clip in Boris RED and create a new 3D Container. Then, place the SD clip into the 3D Container, and then apply the BCC UpRez to the 3D Container itself. The Container itself will share the same dimensions as the project itself (HD) so the expansion should take place successfully now.
Hope this helps,
Jon

Marcus,
I was able to create a similar effect in Boris RED by using a series of two effects: the BCC Film Damage effect and the Page Turn function.
The BCC Film Damage is quick to setup, as this involves the shaking and flickering – the primary thing you’ll want to do is activate (and reduce) the Shake and Flicker functions of the effect, and then dis-engage the Color, Dirt, Grain, Hair & Scratches elements. I found that with minimal flicker (maybe 1/10th the default setting) and a bit of shake (maybe 1/4 the default), I was able to get a good setup for the illusion.
As for the Page Turn, what you will want to is go to the first Keyframe and set the Offset interpolation to straight, and the Offset value to 0. Then, move forward 3-8 frames forward, and set the Offset to 100. Then, copy the first Keyframe and the latter Keyframe (and any in between, if you wanted to create a more customized animation), and Paste these Keyframes in succession. This will reset the flip effect right when it’s done, giving the illusion of many pages flipping upward.
Hope this helps.

Robert,
The way to get two tracks from Premiere Pro into RED would be to apply it as a Transition, as then the two tracks would come in representing the Incoming and Outgoing clips. You might be able to cheat this by strategically placing 2 clips side-by-side and creating a Transition between them to simulate a filter with 2 clips, but really the only way to get more than one video layer into RED from Premiere Pro would be to apply RED to one clip, and export the other clips as self-contained video items. Then, when RED is open, you can import these as external video files, and this will allow you to work with multiple video files. But using a direct approach as you would have in either Avid or FCP7 is not possible in Premiere Pro.
Thanks,
Jon

Robert,
In case you didn’t receive my email earlier today, this is actually a problem with CS6 integration, as Premiere Pro CS6 is unable to load the Transitions as proper Transitions (instead, they would come in merely as the Filter equivalents); because of this, moving the CS6 plugs into the CC plugin directory will only load the Filter versions of these Transitions.
Try completely removing the filters from Premiere Pro (all versions) and even confirm that they are gone from the Premiere interface, and make sure that the BCC 9 program goes through a proper Uninstall as well. After that, try reinstalling fresh again, maybe just using the CC or CC2014 option exclusively, pointing the plugs to the 7.0 MediaCore folder.
Hope this helps,
Jon

This isn’t a known issue, but since you’re upgrading from AvidFX to RED, I would recommend deleting the preferences for both. If you’re on PC, the files would be located here –
C:\Users\[CURRENT USER]\AppData\Local\BorisFXIf you’re on a Mac, they would be located here –
Macintosh HD :: Users :: [Current User] :: Library :: PreferencesIf this does not help, do you think you can reproduce this with a test project using some still images (just as test files small enough to send via email), and then forward this test project to support@borisfx.com?
Thanks,
Jon

February 13, 2015 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Can I export my Extruded EPS 3D creation to an Ai file …?Nick,
You might be able to export the 3D Extruded Text image with an Alpha and perhaps convert that image to an Illustrator file. However, at this stage the Extruded Text would no longer be a Vector-based image, so at the very least, you would need to set the file-size in After Effects (first in Composition and then when making the text with BCC), and then use these locked dimensions for use later on.
Hope this helps,
Jon

Kuhnen,
On OSX 10.9.5, there are actually two preferences files you are likely to find. The first one would simply be the ‘Boris RED 5 Preferences’, the other would be named “com.borisfx.app.Boris RED.plist”. With RED (and any NLE’s you have installed) closed, delete these two files. You can find them here –
Macintosh HD :: Users :: [ Current User/Home ] :: Library** :: Preferences** – Note that this Library folder is hidden by default on OSX 10.9 – to access it, you would either need to use the Go menu in the Finder, or enable view of hidden objects.
Thanks,
Jon

Mike,
We have various video tutorials for BCC inside Sony Vegas, but I believe Layer Deformer is not one of them. We have this tutorial for one or more other hosts if you wish me to point you to them, and the primary workflow would be very similar from NLE to NLE, but nothing in Sony Vegas direct. I will at the very least put in a request with Management for this type of tutorial video.
Thanks,
Jon

Bart,
By default, the snow or rain will stick to edges based on Alpha – that’s why it appears on Graffiti-made titles, and the top of the clip. In the Interaction tab, however, right below the ‘Use “Stick to Layer” Track’ checkbox, should be a pulldown menu that is, by default, set to Alpha. If you change this to Luma, the rain or show should fall onto a bright title, or if it’s a colored title, you can change this to something like Red or Green.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

December 1, 2014 at 4:59 pm in reply to: Preserving Text when Applying Effects from the Library BrowserRobert,
Quickly, are you using RED 5.5 or a previous version, and when you select a Title from the Library Browser, are these some of the presets native to the RED 5 program, or are these additional presets, such as Eye Scream Factory? Let me know and I’ll look into performing these operations.
One last question – is this in the Titling portion of the RED User Guide or the Library Browser portion?
Thanks,
Jon
