    Mike,

If you back-track your Driver to version 333.11, does this fix the problem?

    Thanks,

    Jon

  • Seb,

Thanks – good to know that there is that connection at least. Would you be willing to try downloading the trial for either our RED or Graffiti products? I ask because, if this is actually related to a problem with BCC loading Fonts, you should see that RED/Graffiti would also be experiencing problems – if you can try one of them and let me know if the program launches (or crashes on launch), even as a stand-alone program, that would help us dig deeper.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    James,

The BCC Type On Text filter should have a pretty much identical text window – does that also fail to launch? If so, do you think you’d be willing to try the trial for either Boris RED or Boris Graffiti? I ask because if the Type On Text also does not launch, this could be the result of the filters being unable to read Font files, in which case, if it is related to the Fonts, RED and Graffiti might crash on launch if you tried to use them.

    Thanks,

    Jon

  • Seb,

In the other forum discussion, you say that this problem came up on 2 systems at the same time? If so, there could be something in the Windows update that could be taking place. I’ve alerted some people here of the situation in case.

Is BCC Type On Text exhibiting the same problem?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Mike,

What is the exact model and driver for your Graphics Card? Are you using a Quadro card? Also, what is the exact build of BCC OFX that you have installed? Lastly, just to check, do both Vignette and Vignette Dissolve give the same error?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    James,

Does the BCC Type On Text window come up? Also, does BCC Extruded Spline seem to operate fine? If not, try something like BCC Lens Flare 3D.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    James,

Just checking in to see if you had a chance to clear these files, and if so, if clearing these files had any effect, as another user just reported what seems to be an identical situation (albeit his version of Vegas is different, so I suspect this is not a factor).

    Thanks,

    Jon

  • Hello Seb,

Was there anything that came up where, afterward, the window stopped launching? Primarily, do you know if any Windows or Vegas updates were installed recently? Also, in case, try applying both (in order, if possible) the BCC Type On Text and BCC Extruded Spline. I wanted to check if both also failed, if neither, or if the BCC Type On Text is failing while the Extruded Spline is functional – if this is the case, the problem could be tied to one or more Font files on the system.

Just to confirm, after the Text window fails to appear, does Vegas still run as before, or does it freeze/slow-down?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    James,

Sorry that you are having this problem. A few questions to start.

First, did this function operate initially after you installed BCC OFX? If so, was there anything, such as an update to BCC, Vegas or Windows, after which this function stopped? Does Vegas itself remain functioning after this window fails to launch? Lastly, which exact version of BCC OFX 9 are you running? The latest version is BCC OFX 9.0.2d, so if you’re running an earlier version, I would recommend Uninstalling that and reinstalling using this update.

In addition, I would recommend Closing Vegas and deleting the ‘13.0’ folder from this location –
    C:\Users\[CURRENT USER]\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro

Also, with Vegas still closed, delete any files pertaining to BCC OFX in this directory –
    C:\Users\[CURRENT USER]\AppData\Local\BorisFX\Boris Continuum Complete

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

May 11, 2015 at 3:09 pm in reply to: Boris RED Transition Problem

    Hello Nyann,

Do you think you can send me a copy of one of these RED 4-created Transitions (the raw .red file would be best) that RED 5 is showing problems with? In addition, do you think you can send me a screengrab or quick render of how this appears inside RED’s interface and how it appears, with the distortion, in Sony Vegas? You can send them to me at support@borisfx.com

As for the problem, a couple of quick questions. First, is this something you see in Vegas both Pre-Render and Post-Render? Also, is this distortion something that’s easily visible in each frame of the Transition, or is it something related to a changing variable, such as movement or changes in Alpha?

    Thanks.

    Jon
