  • Hello Dann

Do you think you can send me a quick render/export of this transition? You can relay it to me at support@borisfx.com. Also, if you don’t perform Scaling and/or Position adjustments (primarily scaling), does the problem continue? Does this seem to happen with all of the BCC Transitions, or just one or two?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Marcus,

In addition to Robert’s recommendation (reinstalling, which I would recommend), I would suggest deleting any shortcuts you have for Media 100, such as any Alias files on the Desktop and the shortcut on the OSX dock. In addition, along with offlining the full ‘Media 100 Suite Preferences’ folder, I would recommend deleting all of the ‘com.media100’ Plist files – these would be located in the same directory as the Media 100 Suite Preferences folder itself.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Jack,

Unfortunately, directly Media 100 will not be able to export FCPX-based XML files; especially as Final Cut Pro X seems to have changed its XML structure at some point in the past couple of years.

As you said, however, if there is a program that can import FCP7 XML’s and export the current version of FCPX XML’s, you will need to do this. Sorry, however, that I am not aware of any programs that I can recommend to do this.

    Thanks,

    Jon

  • Michael,

This Green might simply be a proxy color – in case, if you export out of Media 100 and play this in Quicktime Player, does it still appear as Green or does Quicktime Player view it as Black?

    Thanks.

    Robert,

That is outstanding news – was it using the hardware you already had, or did you obtain new hardware to establish the output? If this is with the original hardware (the MXO2 Mini) and the refresh rate is consistent, would you like to send me a screengrab of the Matrox and RED Output settings? You can email them to me at support@borisfx.com and I can relay this information.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Robert,

Thanks for the link. As for recommendation, I would most recommend the BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme 2, ver 9.7.0, as this seemed to yield the best results in testing.

    Thanks.

    Robert,

Thanks. I tried locating some older Release Notes for RED 5 (the current Release Notes indeed do not mention the Matrox hardware) but nothing I found made mention to this integration.

I’ve brought this back up with the head of SQA, but unfortunately, right now, this appears to be a known issue with outputting from the MXO2.

One thing, however – you mention earlier that Matrox mentions us on their page. Do you think you can send me a link to the page where they make reference to us?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Robert,

Sorry we missed your previous posting, and sorry that you are experiencing this situation.

Since you are using Boris RED inside of Premiere Pro, one thing that will come up is that RED will not be able to access the output while Premiere Pro is connecting to it; even though Premiere Pro goes dormant while RED is launched, the connection to the output hardware will remain active, and Premiere Pro will not relinquish this to RED. As such, what you would need to do, if you wish to output while using RED as a plug-in, you would need to manually dis-engage the output from within Premiere’s settings.

As for the output itself, the Matrox MXO2 is known to experience problems with refreshing the image from the RED interface (at least with an HD output). There are a few things you can do to try refreshing the view from the monitor, however. Primarily, you can try dis-engaging and re-engaging the output from the Monitor, and you can also try enabling the Caps Lock (suspending preview within RED’s interface itself), going to another frame and then releasing the Caps Lock again.

In case, when you got the static V1 frame output established, was this while using RED stand-alone, or from within Premiere Pro?

    Thanks.

June 26, 2015 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Is Red 5.5 a paid Upgrade?

    Byron,

No, the RED 5.5 would use the same Serial to license as RED 5.0~5.2 would have used. If you are changing your OS or boot drive, you will need to DeActivate your Serial or get a new Unlock, but if it comes to that, you wouldn’t need to purchase a new license/upgrade.

    Thanks

    Mike,

    Outstanding news!

Russ, if you are using a similar card/driver, try back-tracking to this driver and let me know if it helps.

If so, both of you are experiencing problems coinciding with an existing issue, in which case hopefully we can get a driver fix established.

    Thanks,

    Jon
