Here is what the help says in RED:
Preserving Text when Applying Effects from the Library Browser.
If you select a Text track in the timeline, you can open a text effect from the Library Browser and the effect will load and display the text from your track in the timeline. If you load a text effect from the Library Browser with no tracks selected in the timeline, the effect loads with the text that is in the thumbnail.
I can’t get this to work at all. I’m assuming the animated titles are “text effects”
The only way I’m able to get this to work is to insert the effect and then copy and paste from my existing text track.
Also, anyone have a tip how to just copy the text contents (not the style) from one track and paste it to another text track? I’m copying to wordpad and then pasting from there to get this done.

Quickly, are you using RED 5.5 or a previous version, and when you select a Title from the Library Browser, are these some of the presets native to the RED 5 program, or are these additional presets, such as Eye Scream Factory? Let me know and I’ll look into performing these operations.
One last question – is this in the Titling portion of the RED User Guide or the Library Browser portion?

I’m using Red 5.5.3.1481
The reference is in:

The testing was done with Eye Scream 60 Animated Titles but I just tested with Animated Text Jitter and Animated Text Out, which are native library effects. No difference.

Hi Robert,
The only way I have been successful in applying an effect from the library is as follows.
1) Create text and highlight the track.
2) Open Library browser in template mode
3) Highlight chosen template.
4) Click Insert Text button.
5) Change back to Advanced Modeand Voila

Please forgive my ignorance but how exactly does one open the library browser in advanced or template mode? I can’t find any reference to it in the help.

Right, I forgot, you are using the standalone version. Well that could be tricky. Now as I remember you are using the 32 bit version because it exports Quicktime, is that correct?

I’m mostly using the 64 bit version. Its more stable.
