If there are no tracks selected then it will
paste where it was copied from.If all that I have described is not getting the paste result then try resetting your preferences by holding down shift while you launch ppro. You should see all the plugins load very slowly. Release the shift key when u reach the new open exit window.

The only track selected will be the track the paste will occur.
Say you have 5 tracks. If you copy from track 2 and have 3 4 5 selected the paste will occur on track 3 because it’s the bottom selected track.
Holding shift while you select a track will select all or deselect all depending on the tracks having a selecton or not will speed up the select only a track workflow.

Hi Bob,
I would begin by pointing out that Premiere Pro 1.5.1 was never meant to work with HD or H.264.
The HD world was in its infancy when 1.5.1 was released and to make Premiere Pro would have been 18mths-2 years earlier in writin/testing code. So it was a DV app with late bolt-on HDV options.
H.264 is a complex codec, low file size, amazing quality. You will never get PPro 1.5.1 or 2 working with this format properly, it was not made for it. CS5 is well and truly made for it.
The Computer you are currently working with is not upto spec for HD/HDV in CS3 CS4 or CS5. So there is nothing wrong with your computer or the software, it’s just too old for the job. It was designed in a time where H.264 was not a part of the editing workflow. Sounds like you’ve gotten your money’s worth out of the workstation though.

what codec are the files using? They might not be Premiere Pro compatible. Just because you can play it on VLC doesn’t mean another program can use it.

What format to export to will be dictated by the way it will be played to the projector.
If you have a PS3 you could have a full HD MPEG-2 or H.264 running from a file not a BluRay DVD. But if the only playback device you have is a DVD player then you are limited to DVD resolution.
A laptop could be your playback device, but you will need to test it and how the laptop performs with a HD file while being connected to a high resolution external monitor (projector). There might be issues with bandwidth keeping up.
Some more info in the device direction would go along way to find the best answer/s for you.

Have you tried resizing the sreen resolution?
Cmd+m is the mac shortcut for file>export>media.
It will only work if the timeline panel is selected.

I just looked at your screen grab from my iPhone and the two images look negligibly the same. I’m not seeing anything that would indicate either image is showing more or less detail in blacks.
When doing colour correction there must be a properly calibrated monitor using colour bars to find the right amount of brightness contrast and colour. Then combined with the waveform to see when detail is being crushed.
Use this site as a starting point to calibrate your monitor. The principal is the same but this is for onlocation. Read up 😉

1st thing you’ll need is a fast RAID HDD setup for the massive bandwidth required for HD. Search around the COW for more info. But working HD without RAID no matter what the CPU is pretty much futile.
