It would appear you are trying to edit in a sequence that has smaller dimensions than the clips you are using.
The source montior (left) shows the clip based on it’s dimensions, shape and frame rate. The program moniotor (right) shows you the sequence’s dimensions, shape (pixel aspect ratio) and frame rate.
If you add a clip that’s HD to a DV sequence the HD clip will look cropped at 100%.
Make sure you are editing with matching sequence settings to your clips.

If u look at the adobe minimum specs you’re system is too old.
https://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/systemreqs/You will need a core2duo CPU, new motherboard for the CPU, bare min 2gig ram, but 4gig is more likely to get u started (most recommend 12gig). Windows7 64-bit, Etc. You need a new system. Upgarding your current hardware is not an option.

Gday Phil,
Not sure where you heard that a Decklink or any other 3rd Party card is required for editing HDSLR.
I have working with HDSLR on a software only system on a laptop and it works great!

Do a search for the (name).kys file that is the customised keyboard shortcuts file.
Once you work out where it is on either system you can copy and paste the .kys file from one platform to the other. Ain’t a pretty way to do things but I’ve had it work in the past.

The seq preview format is a mismatch to the footage. So on render it looks wrong. Make sure you are working a seq with same edit settings as the preview codec used.

Yes this can be done.
It’s best to assign a shortcut for the function.With the audio file in the source, go to the edit menu and find audio options… Then select audio gain…
Set the -12dB overall and hit OK.
The entire clip will now be -12dB less than it originally was. It is not set with a levels band like FCP so be aware of the difference in execution.

PPro2 is not supported by Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit. I doubt even if you get the audio issue resolved that you would be able to edit and export properly anyway.
PPro2 was not even certified for Vista 32-bit or 64-bit. It was made for WinXP 32-bit only.
You can’t push a square peg into a round hole.
Sorry, but you will need to upgrade to either CS4 or CS5. If your OS is not 64-bit then you only have 1 option = CS4. CS5 is 64-bit only!

Is it possible you have mp3 audio in there? That can cause this kind of error.
Convert any mp3 or non WAV audio into WAV. Just export the single audio file out to WAV and replace it.
Otherwise there may be a bad frame somewhere, do you have any large images (JPEGs) in the edit?
Usually the place it shows the error is the trouble spot…
