    Hey everyone,

I’ve recently switched to Premiere Pro CS5 and I find that when I render a preview, my preview window becomes squeezed. Black bars appear above and below the window with the image squeezed (and with a lower resolution) in between. I did not have this in CS3. Maybe it has to do with using h.264 Canon 7D footage, I don’t know… Anyone have any ideas?

    Greetings and thanks,
    -Lawant

Strange enough I have got this too. But just the last few days after upgrading my Nvidia driver to the latest and several win7 updates.
I use a Black magic card and it is also on its output. Mercury playback engine is on too.
The error is only there when paused not when playing.
When I put a effect on the videoclip in timeline – there is no problem!!!

Strangely, I have it both paused and playing, and an effect does not help.

Does your sequence settings match your footage?

It does. In fact, until I render the preview, nothing’s wrong.

The seq preview format is a mismatch to the footage. So on render it looks wrong. Make sure you are working a seq with same edit settings as the preview codec used.

I used to be able to import Ex3 720/50P files into a uncompressed 10 bit Black Magic 720/50P Timeline without this. The problem is there too when making a timeline that fits the codec.
