What version of Premiere Pro are they using. Those settings you posted are very easy to find and set manually in CS3/4/5.

Does the video you exported look like this or is it just on the Youtube version?
I use the H.264 settings for my YouTube videos and they always come out looking great.
Settings I use are roughly,
H.264
3.0 Mbps CBR
Match the frame rate of the sequence
Progressive Fields
AAC Audio @192Kbps StereoMy frame size might change based on my footage. I find 1280×720 enough for Youtube. 1920×1080 always feels like overkill and it takes too long to download.
If you want to go to 1920×1080 you will need to set the Profile to 4.1 or above.

If you export an interlaced DVD file out to Deinterlaced you will lose half the resolution and get what look like jaggy edges.
Can you post a screen grab of what you are seeing and supply the settings used in the seq, the export and what the clip settings are too.

I hope this fixes your problem…
It appears you are working with HD video that dimensions are 1280×720 but you are attempting to edit in 720×480.
You must select the correct video sequence to edit in that matches the video footage you are using. Otherwise you will get the kinds of results you are seeing – middle of image and not the full frame.
The source screen shows the clips in their native shape and size.
The program show what’s going on with clips in the sequence. If they are not a perfect dimension match (or frame rate) then you will be seeing things differently from the source to the program.
This is how all NLE applications work and is not a bug.
Start a new project and select the sequence that matches your video clips. Sounds like it might be 1280×720 at 29.97fps. There is a HDV preset for that.
Let us know if it works better this way. You could be facing a situation where you are trying to use a version of PPro that was made before the format you are working with was made so it might need to be upgraded. Sadly that would probably mean a new computer to meet the requirements and at least windows 7 64-bit as CS5 will not install on a 32-bit OS and is not compatible with XP Pro.
These are just the facts of technology and not the fault of Adobe. Keep the bashing to “technology moving faster than the public can keep up with”, not “Adobe”.

You need to make sure the capture interface settings are set to DV and not HDV as the signal is translated differently and needs to be changed in order to ingest it.

To me this would be like cutting in the timeline itself.
There is no way to show the video and audio in the source at the same time 😐

WinXP is not supported for the native 64-bit apps in CS5. Premiere Pro, After Effects and Media Encoder.
There will never be support for CS5 in WinXP 32-bit. And as WinXP 64bit is so old and not supported there is no future in releasing any patches for it either.
You will be best to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit.

I have a Sony Z1P and can work with this cam in CS5. The camera listing is irrelevant just use the alternative if the default isn’t working.
There is a known issue they are fixing where a HDV cam using the DV downconvert in the camera is not working in the Mac version.
Working in HDV doesn’t show you the screen either when you are searching or playing back shots – another bug they are aware of and fixing. Again this is only on the Mac version.
Something has changed in the Mac 10.6.x updates. I think I should have stayed with Leopard. Snow Leopard has not been a better experience for me.
I am happy I have both Mac and PC versions. Needless to say the PC is getting used a lot! – and it’s working really really well.
