    Hi,

I don’t usually use premiere pro, I’m a Final Cut editor. Basically, I have a regular job covering press conferences, but while I am on holiday, I need someone to cover for me. This someone uses Premiere Pro .

The videos need to be exported to a really specific specification, which I can do no problem using Final Cut. It is….

    Wrapper: MOV (QuickTime Movie)
    Video Codec: H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10)
Either Video Bit Rate: 2Mbps (Minimum)
Or Video Compressor Quality: 85% or above (High to Best) Video Frame Size: 720×576
    Video Frame Rate: 25 fps
Video Aspect Ratio: 4:3 or 16:9 depending on Source
    Audio Codec: AAC (Mpeg-4 Audio)
    Audio Sample Size: 16bit
Audio Bit rate: 160Kbps 48 khz Stereo (Minimum)
Audio Bit rate: 256Kbps 48 khz Stereo (Maximum)

The Premiere Pro editor cant set the video bit rate or the audio codec. Is there anyway this can be done without spending £600 on Sorenson Squeeze?

I hope that makes sense, without being a Premiere user it’s hard to tell if I am giving enough detail. Would really appreciate tips, thanks in advance,

    Jess

What version of Premiere Pro are they using. Those settings you posted are very easy to find and set manually in CS3/4/5.

    Hi,

He’s using CS3, but the option to set the video bitrate and audio codec are greyed out??

Also, I spoke to someone who does the same thing as me, who also uses Premiere Pro CS3, and they confirmed it cannot be done in Premiere Pro and they use Sorenson Squeeze. Surely this is wrong?

I’ve managed to get hold of a copy of Premiere CS4 to have a look myself, and it’s all there easy enough. But when I looked at the cs3 version yesterday, the export window was different and some of the tick boxes were greyed out and couldn’t be adjusted.

Does that make sense at all?

Does this other person have Quicktime installed on their PPro CS3 machine?

I know some versions of Quicktime would not install the AAC audio codec in CS3. Try installing another version (maybe older version) of Quicktime. I have 7.5.5 on my system, and it works.
