I’ve been working in PAL motion graphics and video that has been kine’d to film (Kine is the process of putting video onto Film).
Because PAL is 25 and film is 24 it is so close we would use each frame and slow the audio down 4% to compensate the for the 1 frame per second off the 24/25.
It would come out looking great. The Chemist (Film Lab) would do the kine for us. Seriously, the process is pretty darn good from the Lab so let the festival organisers deal with the kine. If your film is shot on film, that will look like film. Deinterlacing is the closest thing you can really do to look like film. That will destroy have the resolutoin, so leave it. That will be done in the film transfer, they will probably use a processs to maintain the other field without is completely wasting the information.
Use the effect for color grading, that’s it. Film looks like film. Film Lenses on a Video camera looks like film, colour space can’t compare to film (yet). Tell your story that is all that matters, not the wizz bang film look effects that boris and others tell you festivals need.

If you haven’t yet run the update to 3.2, do it. that should fix the problem. They say they have fixed this error.

You will need to convert the cda file into a (.WAV, .AIF, .MP3) file for any NLE to import it. With iTunes you can do it by right clicking the file and asking it to convert to… the type of file it conforms to will depend on the preferences.

u need to find the seq timeline in the project tab. open that, you’ll b fine. this empty timeline is a bug in cs3. not problem just annoying.

fast blur should be in the blur effect folder. If you type in the word fast to the contains section of the effects listing you should see it. If it’s not there you’ve got something wrong with your copy of PPro.

Consider the mac version of PPro the first version. It’s still only the 3rd version on the PC. If you have the upgrades you should be ok. It is unstable when trying to use the export to Encore feature. Use Adobe Media Encoder to make the mpeg1 or mpeg2. Then use EncoreDVD on its own and import the mpegs to make a timeline and set the end action to itself to loop. That’s it you’ve made a loopable DVD.

Once you get used to the single layer cross fade format you’ll wonder what the hell we were doing with the A/B roll. It keeps things so much cleaner. You can shift the crossfade forward and backward and make it longer by dragging its edges out. Use the shortcut key’s to create the cross fade at the cuts (Ctrl+D).
The short cut for audio fades is (Ctrl+Shift+D).

Production Premium and Dynamic Link. If you need to render in and out always go with uncompressed AVI or MOV. Dynamic Link will access the original file and give you a direct link with the AE comp without any compression added. Like using uncompressed without the need to render until you finish and then only from PPro.

Yes if you have a fast enough computer you can edit this with relative realtime. You will have a red bar that means you need to render to see it in realtime. What I suggest is you render out DV AVI copies of the uncompressed AVI files so you can use them to edit in realtime. then once you have finished cutting your edit as an offline version. Then replace the video files with the uncompressed one’s instead of the DV versions. You can then colour correct with full colour space and then render out the final this way.
As for playback you will need to know what system you can afford. That will define the limitations and comparative quality of the format you can afford and need for projection. I find DVD blows up quite well on a SD projector. Upscaled DVD on a Bluray Player that upresolutions to 1080i still looks pretty darn good.

From working in Audition Audio is a length based sample rate quality driven format. If you have recorded the audio in 24 or 30 fps it will still run for the same length in time. That is what is important. You should be able to import the audio into Audition and change the timeline Display time format and then export it out as wav. It should work as 24fps when you bring it into the 24p project.
