  • Importing music into Premiere Pro CS3 from iTunes

I’m not able to use some of the music I’ve downloaded from iTunes. Why is that? An example file name is “track01.cda” which was downloaded from iTunes. The error msg reads: “file format not supported” is there a way I can re-format it so that Premiere Pro will accept it? Or anything else I can do to use the music i’ve downloaded from iTunes into Premiere Pro CS3?

You will need to convert the cda file into a (.WAV, .AIF, .MP3) file for any NLE to import it. With iTunes you can do it by right clicking the file and asking it to convert to… the type of file it conforms to will depend on the preferences.

I usually end up burning anything from Itunes, then ripping it to get a wav out of it.

    Thanks Vincent,

I feel like such an idiot for overlooking that! Been caught up in the “Higher End” of production work that I completely forgot to go back to the very basics. Again, thanks for pointing me back into the right direction!

I had an issue with this and the music would seem to skip a beat or two. Turns out my project was set at 44000 Hz and the iTunes import was 41800 Hz. All I did was change my setting so they matched. Does that make sense?

    Thanks for the Help

Sean, i really don’t understand what you are saying, so i can’t answer your question.

In addition, iTunes do convert the .CDA file for Adobe premiere, however, it can do nothing about the DRM-convered tracks and videos purchased from iTunes store. Anyone who wish to import the DRM-convered media files from iTunes to Premiere can refer to this article.
