Why are you importing the projects and not opening them with CS3 then doing a SaveAs to not save over the original version made with PPro2?

Professional software in editing demands frame accurate editing and EDLs. These consumer formats are not frame accurate. They can slip and you might get some weird result where a cut should be due to the longform compression methods used in some highly compressed codecs (GOP). That’s why many PPro Editors want to keep out these low-end formats. Use WMM to export out a reliable file type. Like DV AVI/QT or Uncompressed AVI/QT.

Funny… I’ve never needed to run away from an Author to do it from another platform. But that would suprise me if they aren’t compatible. (I’ll check that one out myselft next chance I get).
I’m sure they’ll iron out the coding bugs with cs4. check this link to see some of the stuff going on with Premiere Pro cs4. Very cool.

I’m sorry to be the one to break this to you, but the mac version of Premiere Pro is only in its 1st version. It’s been on the PC for 3 versions now. PC is a better version of it and has better workflow and speeds for working in the timeline. I would hope that cs4 will be the same PC and Mac functions as they have had time to bring OnLocation to the Mac platform in the new cs4 version (cs3 only worked on PC framework). While still on cs3 there is no way to use the scene detect feature on a Mac and have the video cut on scenes. It can only make automated subclips from the original full length capture. This is clearly stated in all of the Adobe literature, I’ve tried to work around it but there ain’t no way.

If I am moving between platforms I always make sure I have the drive named as something. Not just a letter, but a name. This name is what is shared. The single folder for all stuff is the best way to keep all your materials. I categorize my resources into folders like,
Resources>Images
>Video
>Audio
this way all I need to reconnect is one file from each category while maintaining a managed “file type” folder structure in the Resources folder.
Keeping everything in the one folder will not only look messy it is. While on the upside you only ever need to find one file and rest will be in the same folder so no more relinking after the first one.

The Type of work you are trying to do is more an After Effects thing. That program allows you to see beyond the workspace using the hand tool. I’m not sure what you want to do as far as detail goes, but you can make the monitor window fullscreen by positioning your mouse over the monitor window and hitting the tilda key (~) under the Esc key.
You’re 10% can now probably go upto 50%.

The only issues I had was getting the older version of Avid Xpress Pro to see my Audio Hardware on the laptop. Updates since fixed that. But there is no issues with having both on there.

The Beta has been dumped onto the miniDV tape as 4×3 inside a 16×9 Anamorphic signal therefore making pillar box. If you told this clip to be widscreen Aspect Ratio it will look right, but you’ve lost a lot of information in the incorrect aspect ratio.

The problem you describe has never happened to me. I would be certain you have the crawl setting, type something that is just alskdnf;lkasdnfhasdfj garble until it runs off the screen, set the roll/crawl options to offscreen and see how that works.
Otherwise there is something wrong with your install. Reinstall the software.
