Just so its clear. PP does have the ability to capture and scene detect. The Scene Detect function, currently works only with DV, but it doesn’t use the timecode break. continuous timecode is unbroken. A camera can turn off then on again and not lose timecode. the off/on of the camera is what the scene detect function uses to detect a shot break. IF you shot non-stop and didn’t turn off the camera at all until you ran out of tape, that’s different and wouldn’t be described as unbroken timecode but more I shot the whole tape in one unbroken shot.
Making Subclips is as simple as opening the clip in the source panel, setting in/out points, right clicking in the source window…select make sub clip or dragging the source video to the project panel. You can set your own short cut key/s for the action in Edit>Keyboard customization…Application>Clip>Make Subclip click in the right column next to the funciton name and pres the key/s to create the shortcut. I use shift+m it doesn’t conflict with any other functions and relate to Make a Subclip.

usb is the problem. pp doesn’t support usb capture. 1394 aka firewire or serial with pro hardware. try capturing with wmm. then import to pp 4 editing.

What happens if you start a new project – using only Adobe Preset, and import the Canopus project into it?
You’ll lose any Canopus RT effects, but the audio should come in.
Let us know how that works out.

As much as this is annoying I don’t know how you captured the footage into the computer? tape based via WMM or PPro?…HDD based copied to HDD then edit?…
Anyway, you have it in the computer now. If the footage interpreted works properly as a whole clip in the source monitor without any sync issues. I’d do an export to DV AVI from there. I know its a copy and you should save it to another folder (called reExportDV – or something like that… try to keep the same file names). Use the 48K DV settings in Export>Movie… adjust the settings to be correct for the project settings (so they are then native to each other). Once you’ve done this to all the clips from the source monitor, without any in/out points – try to unlink all the media in the project panel. Then Link them to the new folder with DV exports. if the names are the same hopefully they will all relink to the new clips, and maintain all the editing you’ve done too. Because the clips settings will now be native to the 48K timeline the sync problem should be gone.

I must be doing it differently or the logo file is the issue? I can’t seem to replicate the problem using normal footage with a luma key and a peel on the end of the V2 Luma Keyed clip. It wipes away not affecting the V1 tracks clip at all.
I wonder if a Nested Sequence with the logo in it would help?

Goto…Project>Import Batch List
Now all your newly imported batch files will be reset to audio and video capture!

I’ve tried to run the situation you want and it works fine for me. I’m applying the BG layer on V track 1. Luma effected layer ontop (V2), then I’m adding the GPU Transitions “Page Curl or Page Roll” on the end of the clip on V2 with Luma effect. It works perfectly for me.
Am I doing something differently you have been?

Exporting to a DVD format (MPEG-2) will lose quality based on MB/sec. 2 hours on a single layer disc will have to forfeit quality (MB/sec) in order to fit on the disc. Minimum for decent quality MPEG-2 is 6-7MB/sec. Constant Bit Rate (CBR) will keep the MB/sec constant for the whole video signal and is more stable, but you will use up a lot of MBs quickly. Variable Bit Rate (VBR) adjusts the MB/sec based on guessing how much is happening in the video at every GOP section (.5-1sec of video). MPEG-2 will always look worse than DV Video. It runs at most about 1/5th that data rate (MB/sec). In Broadcast terms it can be upto 40x compressed = loss of quality.

No it’s not. Especially at 2 hours on a single layer disc. Capacity is about 1hr 20mins on a single layer disc at 7MB/sec. You need a Dual Layer disc/burner, which is what Movie Studio DVDs are on (Dual Layer).

If you think of the process as layered, the keyed footage would need to be absolutely on top. Then the white flash, then the BG on the bottom.
Layer 3 = Key
Layer 2 = White Flash
Layer 1 = BG
