There will be an “S” curve of the transition envelope. Drag the bottom point on the left to the top and the top point on the right to the bottom. (so the “S” is backward) and the transition will play backward. You can also get it to stop in the middle, go half way and reverse, or any combination you can thing of.

I just tried it and it does not give the desired effect you are looking for because it actually shows the wrong video (sorry)

It would probably be helpful if you told us what file formats you are working in. I have never had this problem but then again I work in HDV/AVCHD and DV and never use non-standard formats like DivX & Xvid so all of my files playback perfectly. Depending on what media you are working with, your Vegas experience will vary greatly.

That was way too hard. Next time, right-click the transition and select Insert/Remove Envelope > Transition Envelope and then change the Transition Progress points to reverse them and it will reverse the transition.

Flip uses some non-standard MPEG4 format. It is possible that Vegas is having problems decoding it. You might want to use another program to convert the video to a format that is easier for Vegas to edit and see if that fixes the problem. Any video converter will do but Super(c) seems to be a fairly good one. Vegas likes DV for SD or MPEG-2 or AVCHD for HD but MJPEG, HuffYUV, or Lagarith codecs can also be used with both SD & HD with good results.

If you have never spliced video tape before I would take it to a professional. I have only worked with audio tape and for audio you must make a diagonal cut so that the splice does not get caught on the heads. Since video heads spin on an angle I have no idea if this works for video or not but if you don’t know what you are doing, chances are you will do the wrong thing. If you do try it, I agree with ejecting the tape before the splice and hand winding it past the splice just to be safe.

Did you layout the CD in Vegas with Track Markers (N)? If not, go into the Help and read the Disc-at-Once (DAO or Red Book) CD Burning chapter on how to layout a CD. It will take you step by step though the process.

Two things: (1) If you downloaded it, then download it again. Maybe the download is corrupt. (2) What else is running on your PC? Stop all background programs. I once used Restore-It and it was a great program for monitoring changes on your PC and restoring if something failed. Unfortunately, it cause all of the Sony install programs to fail. So stop all anti-virus or auto-backup or auto-defrag or any other programs and try and install again.

Since the muzzle flash is black and white you could add a Sony Mask Generator FX to the event and the Luminance setting will key out the black leaving only the white muzzle flash.

As for erasing parts of the flash, that will be very difficult in Movie Studio because I don’t believe it has the Mask capability in Pan/Crop that Vegas Pro has. Normally I would go into Pan/Crop and use the Mask tool for this. You really need a tool that has masking capabilities. Without it, you would have to manually create a black and white mask in a tool like Photoshop and then keyframe the movement of the mask to match the subjects movement. Then composite that wil the original footage.
