  • have you tried pasting content instead of pasting the other attributes? If you do it this way all your filters and keyframing stay the same, only the clip is replaced with another.

Used it today. Nothing really earthshattering as far as interface changes, but it worked like a charm..even with speed change footage.

  • Just search for it and select it in the Warning dialog.

Duplicate your DV sequence. Delete the video clips from the duplicate. Drag into new project (optional–but automatically breaks all links to master clips). Use the “awful” Media Manager to copy the media deleting unused footage. You end up with all your audio consolidated–no video. Paste the consolidated audio back into your Online video only sequence.

You can modify the timecode of a clip by selecting it in the browser and then selecting “Timecode” from the Modify menu.
I think this may not work in your case, because of the 00:00:00 rollover. I know most versions of Avid also cannot handle the rollover either (though its possible recent releases have fixed that).

You might want to consider dubbing this clip via firewire (if it is a dv clip) to another tape with new timecode so you can get a proper pre-roll. Who knows, you many need to re-digitize this project someday and it will make your life a whole lot easier.

This is normal behavior if your sequence codec does not support alpha channels (most do not).

Adaptec stopped supporting Mac long ago. Get yourself an ATTO card and be happy.

Soundtrack Pro (the new version that comes with FCP 5 Studio) can do this …if you have an earlier version, then it probably came with a copy of Bias Peak DV…which can also do this rather nicely.

You can also do what you want using the tools in FCP, though its a bit clunky. To add silence, just add a slug after the edit. Then nest the clip and the slug. Add the reverb filter to the nest.

You dont have to convert wav files to aiff…FCP can read wav files just fine. If you still want to convert, just use Quicktime Pro or iTunes to do the job.

[16:9] “Could i produce 24p from 60i video with cinema tools?

No. Cinema Tools is primarily for film work…its main function is to maintain a database of Keycode numbers for a film conform of an FCP edit. It also can be used to batch remove pulldown from film to tape transfers for 24fps editing. It does not convert anything to 24p

Graeme Nattress does make a great filmlook plug in which might do the trick for you. There is a demo version available.
