  • Pasting attributes – scale keyframes – no, really?

It’s one of the biggest frustrations I have with FCP. You set up a series of filters, keyframes, etc. and the client changes their minds and we need to apply the same filter attributes to another shot with the same duration but different tc & in/out relative to clip start.

Paste attributes->filters applies the filters but the keyframes could be anywhere. With scale on or off, making both clips independent – nothing seems to work.

Is this a bug or another one of those “it’s not a problem if you refrain from trying that” issues?

have you tried pasting content instead of pasting the other attributes? If you do it this way all your filters and keyframing stay the same, only the clip is replaced with another.

That works sometimes but not others. I still end up with shifted keyframes even though I pasted content of exactly the same length. Weird.

In general shifting keyframes is an insane pain in the rear and utterly unreliable in FCP. My understanding is that it’s no bettter in FCP5.
