    Have done this many times.
INFINIT can export Targas and Tiffs. Both are compatible with FCP easily.
No need for tape or anything else exotic.

If there are transforms, export a Tiff or Targa sequence and stitch them together into a Quicktime using Quicktime Pro.

Not that familiar with Xpress Pro, but I think you are outta luck.
Use the AIFF output method I suggested. They will play in FCP just fine.

I know you will lose some quality, but I think just using the analog out of the camera would be the simplest solution (either to dub to another format, or direct capture into FCP if you have a capture card)

[betamac] “I’m exporting as Quicktime Movie, Same as Source amd I’m finding:”

This is your problem. If you use ‘Same as Source’ it requires the Avid Codec to be installed on your FCP system….however the Avid Codec is incompatible with the latest version of FCP—Do not install it.

Export using the Animation Codec instead.

[betamac] “1. The QT ends up with mixed audio, not split audio. I can’t find settings which affect this.”

Make sure your Avid is set for Direct Out and not stereo mix. Also, only Quicktime 7 or later support more than 2 channels of audio. You could also export each track independently as an AIFF file.

Select all clips in your open sequence and drag them to a bin.
Export the bin as a batch list and open in Excel.

    Export with Quicktime Conversion.
Use the Animation Codec (Millions +), full Quality.

IMPORTANT—Place graphic on video track 2, leave video track 1 empty. DO NOT RENDER THE GRAPHIC. Rendering composites with the background, destroying your alpha.

December 6, 2006 at 6:16 pm in reply to: sequence settings that support alpha channels

[apextv] “Does the DVCpro 50 codec support alpha channels? “

    No.

[apextv] “f not what codecs in final cut do support alpha channels, since we use quite a few i’d like to eliminate the endless rendering of using animation codec and then rerendering each one?”

None. There are no codecs that support alpha channels in real time at present. The old Cinewave card did support Animation files with alpha in realtime, but did so with additonal processing on their card. It is possible that the next generation of computers (and software) will be sufficiently fast enough to support this using CPU horsepower or GPU horsepower.

You still need to make sure your device control is set to your G-port and not Firewire. If you have your device control set to rs-422, then the option to reset the port will be there.

Open the page with your movie on it in GoLive. Click on the movie so its properties show in the Inspector. In th Attributes tab, Click the “Create New Attribute” button in the lower right corner. In the 2 spaces at the bottom of the Inspector replace the text “attr” with “kioskmode” and replace the text “value” with “true”. Save your page. The movie will now display in a browser without the pulldown save menu in the right-hand corner. You can also do this in Dreamweaver in a similar manner.

If you have Go Live (or Dreamweaver) you dont need to paste any code. If you dont, look at the source code of your webpage and search for where the code for the embedded movie is. You will see the things like …just add a new parameter that says .

    Hope this helps.

Note, this is not tip-top security, but will prevent the casual user from being able to save the movie. There are more secure ways to do it, but they are beyond my skill level.
