5.1.3 introduced a number of bugs. 5.1.4 was released quickly to deal with fixing them.

I would recommend doing the Upgrade to 5.1.4 over staying with 5.1.3.

But if you were happy with the older version, you might want to reinstall and go to 5.1.1.

Sounds like you imported a Quicktime reference movie, but no longer have the render files it points to. If you are going to export Quicktime movies for later use, you MUST export them as self contained movies to avoid problems like this.

The only way to fix this is to open not the current project or sequence, but the sequence where this reference movie was created, and re-render it. If you do not have it, you are stuck.

Every broadcaster you deliver to should have a spec sheet for you.

If they want bars to start at 58:30:00, there is not a problem to have black before that to ensure you have enough preroll.

Some broadcasters also want the tone at different levels. Be sure to give them what they want. You can adjust the tone in your mastering settings.

Not sure what you are asking. If you are using decks with analog audio, the Flying Cow is a fine way to get your audio in and out of the Kona. I do it all the time.
I have an analog Mackie mixer that I only use for monitoring. I use the analog output of the Kona for that.

Yes. Control (or right) click on the clip in the timeline and select ‘open in editor’.

This only works if you are using the Motion project file as your video clip and you have Motion set as the external editor for video clips in your preferences.

If you are using SD Uncompressed, your system should be able to handle that. Hopefully AJA can help…sounds like a possible PCI bandwith issue with slot order, but they would know for sure.

You are entitled to free tech support from them, and they are always helpful.

I have read that some AJA users have to put their PCI cards in specific slots. Give AJA a call, as their website may not be updated with the most current info.

I downloaded a bunch from Apples site for a project (I had permission to use them).

The trick is to use Compressor to convert them to DVCPRO HD or uncompressed HD. Don’t try to use H263.

The odd frame size is because they are film aspect ratio. You can have Compressor add a letterbox, or you can blow it up in FCP which will crop the image on the sides a bit.

If you do not have legal permission to show these clips, it would be illegal to use them in a public display.

If you need the specific settings for Compressor, I can e-mail you the custom preset I created.
