Final Cut Studio Program Integration
Does Final Cut Studio operate “between the individual programs” like Adobe Creative Suite? in other words,
in Adobe, the Adobe bridge product lets you “fix” a photoshop file that is inside of After Effects. then it automatically updates the fix inside
of After Effects and or Premier without you having to go in and re-export/re-import the file. I would call this
‘seemless integration’. Myself and some collegues have just started using “Motion”, but don’t see a way to do
that same thing easily. So if I have a Motion clip on the FCP timeline, can I double click it to open up Motion, fix the file and it
then automatically updates ON the FCP line?
If not, this is one case where Apple Needs to play catch up quick! -

then automatically updates ON the FCP line?”Yes. Control (or right) click on the clip in the timeline and select ‘open in editor’.
This only works if you are using the Motion project file as your video clip and you have Motion set as the external editor for video clips in your preferences.

I do this with FCP all the time. Right click on any still image file & it will open up in whatever photo editor you’ve designated in your system preferences. When you save the file it will be automatically updated in FCP. Same with audio sent to Soundtrack or mograph files sent to Motion.
