You can actually do this entirely with the 3D warp effect….no color effects, animattes, or layers….unfortunately I am not in front of the system right now and can’t give you a step by step from memory.

Thanks for adding that Bob….from another Manhattan resident.
Believe me, that $650/day is becoming harder and harder to get, yet my rent doesn’t seem to go in any direction but up.

the slider is meaningless in this codec….as it is in many codecs. Ignore it.
There is only ProRes 422 and ProRes 422HQ.

no need to uninstall.
back up everything to a firewire drive first. they are cheap and there is no excuse not to.

Notice that FCP names your freeze frame the timecode.

Again…I would avoid normalize and use compression and limiter filters in STP or FCP. They do more of what you describe you want done, than normalizing which is a different thing.

just install the latest versions.
Avid codecs have behaved somewhat flakey within FCP. If you have trouble, you might want to use Compressor to convert the files to the standard DV codec.

You want to use the compressor and limiter filters for that.
As said earlier, don;t do this if you are having a mix done by an audio guy. Leave everything unadulterated or he will want to kill you.

You probably need to hook up your VHS deck to a TBC/Frame Sync. A VHS signal is very unstable.
If you dont have one, dub the tape to mini DV or some other more stable format.
